The Popular Art of Animation Welcome to Studio FILM BILDER. We're an animation studio in Stuttgart, Germany, and we've been around for 30 years now. We got 'em.
Here is a small selection of our pics and films to give you some idea of the broad range of our artists' work. Talking crocodiles? Rockin' and rollin' bunny rabbits? We got them too. Strawberry jam and honey addicts? This is the place for you! Over the years we've been honoured to pocket over twohundred awards at festivals worldwide, but we have our sights set higher. We want to introduce a more
artistic and creative approach into the mainstream. The time is ripe for the short format to come bursting out of the closet and make the popular art of animation even more popular. Onwards and upwards!

The world premiere of FRITZI & SOPHIE was wonderful. It began at 10 am with a school performance in front of enthusiastic children and ended with the grand finale at 7 pm on Stuttgart's Schlossplatz. Many thanks to our colleagues from Balance Film and Trickstudio Lutterbeck as well as the ITFS and MFG Baden-Württemberg!

Attend the world premiere of FRITZI & SOPHIE at the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film (ITFS)! All eight episodes will be shown at the festival - the first half in the cinema, the second half on the Schlossplatz. There will also be a panel at the FMX and a making-of in the festival cinema.
Fritzi & Sophie is a series - but it is also great cinema. In 8 x 22 minutes, author Beate Völcker spans a wide dramaturgical arc - a gripping, emotional and funny story about a girl's friendship against the backdrop of German-German reunification. Directors Ralf Kukula, Matthias Bruhn and Thomas Meyer-Hermann paint a genre picture of the year 1989. Hundreds of characters and true-to-life locations in East and West take us back to the last weeks before reunification. Fritzi & Sophie is a co-production of Balance Film (Dresden), TrickStudio Lutterbeck (Cologne) and Studio FILM BILDER (Stuttgart) with ARD, MDR, WDR and SWR, supported by BKM, MDM, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and MFG Baden-Württemberg.

Frame by Frame - Wie Trickfilmer ticken | Video | Die grenzenlose Welt des Trickfilms: Mit 'Aisha' und 'Fritzi & Sophie' zeigt die SWR Kultur Doku, wie zwei sehr unterschiedliche Filme entstehen. Der eine ist beim Internationalen Trickfilm-Festival in Stuttgart, der andere kommt im Herbst ins Kino.

13 March is a lucky day: The ANIMANIMUSICAL celebrates its premiere on Filmbilder & Friends! 🎼🥂🎩 You will hear the animals sing the Animanimals song together for the first time. 🦜And you can see what the parrot gets up to. You can already chat with the director Julia or the producer Tom on the YouTube channel. Maybe the musicians Claudia and Martin will also drop by. You can meet them all there on 13 March at 6 pm to share the anticipation. The ANIMANIMUSICAL starts at 7 pm (Central European Time).

This years Filmbilder Xmas party presents have been dedicated to the 80s, because the long series production FRITZI & SOPHIE is coming to an end. It hasn't been started in the 80s, but the story is taking place at that time.

The International Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart is back! It was real fun, with friendly people and great films like DOG APARTMENT by Priit Tender and ZOON by Jonathan Schwenk. There were also two hands full of Film Bilder productions like DEALING WITH WAR, LOVE & THEFT, RUBICON, NUGGETS, BENZTOWN, NO ROOM FOR GEROLD, FLAMING ARROW, BATPIG as well as CAT and ANTS from the Animanimals. Many thanks to the festival! Andrea Bauer, Uwe Schmitz-Gielsdorf, Annegret Richter and the whole team did a fantastic job.

The second season of ANIMANIMALS by Julia Ocker has just been completed and is already on air: KiKA, every day at 18:10, until end of November.
In each episode, a different animal faces an absurd adventure that can only happen to them: A Piglet, who is cleaning so hard that the whole house is getting a mess. A Ladybird, who has a ladybird neighbor, who has too much in common with him. A Rhino, who is preparing for a romantic date, but his horn is in the way. A Dormouse, who oversleeps his own birthday. And while finding the solution, each animal learns a little lesson about life.

We are saddened to hear that Gil Alkabetz passed away last week. Back in the 90s, we had the pleasure of accompanying him on his journey for a while. Here at Studio Film Bilder, Gil made his personal films „Yankale“ and „Rubicon“ as well as the children’s film „Trim Time“, the title sequence for „Run Lola Run“ and several short clips for the ZDF youth magazine „Dr. Mag“. He was a lovable human being and a gifted artist. His creative mind and sharp intellect allowed him to transform the misery of the world into beautiful, heartwarming and funny pieces of art. Gil Alkabetz’s life and work are best described by the words of French cartoonist Chaval: „Humor is the politeness of despair“.

We hope it's not too late to congratulate Ged Haney. He has won the British Animation Award for Best Music Video with "Der Stuhlkreis". The song was made in Stuttgart by the indie band Rocket Freudental. Ged is the genius animator behind many TOM and ANIMANIMALS episodes as well as the co-director for BLA BLA BLA by Gigi D'Agostino. Der Stuhlkreis is his personal production. Congratulations, Ged!

Successful week for BENZTOWN, the slightly filthy Stuttgart portrait by Gottfried Mentor. It has won the Prix DeVarti for the Funniest Film at the Ann Arbor Festival and the Architecture Film Award at the "Regensburger Kurzfilmwoche". Thanks a lot und Dankeschön!
