//BIOPLASTIC BREAKING DOWN WITHIN 6 WEEKS
We have a global waste issue.
That’s why we are always happy to hear about solutions like this one developed by UK student Lucy Hughes.
Her plastic is made from fishing waste such as fish scales and algae.
“MarinaTex“ is not only free from toxins, but also stronger than e.g. a standard plastic bag.
It may seem unbelievable, but with the waste from a single Atlantic Cod you can produce 1,400 bags.
To us Lucy Hughes’ innovation is a real game changer when it comes to dealing with an issue that cannot and must not be ignored.
What promising innovative projects that help tackle waste issues have you come across?

//WE NEED NO SAFETY BELTS
“At least, they are not really needed in urban traffic“, the first man in the interview says.
And the second says he would never buy one, because he may drop a cigarette and not reach it, while wearing a safety belt.
Times change.
And as times change, people know better.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 56 % of all traffic fatalities occur in urban areas.
You know today that more people are seriously injured or killed in car crashes, if they don`t wear a safety belt.
And people know about the damaging effects of smoking. In some European countries smoking in cars is banned anyway – one worry less.
If those days wearing a seat belt was crazy to many people, it is crazy to many people not to war one nowadays.
Bottom Line:
Time will tell how valuable an idea actually is.
Everything that is old today used to be new once and often needed time to be accepted, to become something no one would want to live without anymore.
What other crazy idea you know that turned out to be a blessing?

//APPROACHABILITY – A KEY TO SUCCESS?
Look at this video, where you see iconic Usain Bolt giving a fist bomb to a young volunteer, taking his time to have a little chat with him.
While getting ready to run, he is in touch with even more volunteers around.
You can feel the energy between one another.
You can see how kind, humble, and approachable that World Champion is.
In fact, it’s also approachability that makes people like him so popular.
And it’s also their approachability and down-to-earth mentality what builds trust.
Trust, the relationship builder that attracts people – in private and business contexts.
That’s why approachability is key to the success of so many brands and corporates.
The approoachability that encourages people to turn to you when they need support while facing a challenge.
Thus, lots of businesses would be more successful if they were more approachable.
Do you agree?

//INTRODUCING THE TOILET OF TOMORROW
In some places, toilets turn out to be a nightmare so that you’d rather pull yourself together and wait for a better opportunity to let go.
This self-cleaning revolving toilet by SaniTronics - openbare toiletsystemen eases the pain of those disgusted by dirty public toilets.
While the floor is being washed, the toilet is prepared for cleaning.
The used toilet is then switched out with a fresh one to keep the restroom operational.
Once the switch is complete, the first toilet is power-washed, ready to be used again.
Quite cool, isn’t it?

//GOING BEYOND LIMITS
That’s what innovation is all about.
That’s what growth is all about.
Going beyond
_ limits set by yourself.
_ limits set by others.
_ limits you think that are innate.
If you want to get further, if you want to grow:
Dream big and don’t think in limits, but in opportunities.
Think of what is possible.
Maybe remembering the little turtle will help next time you think that something is impossible. 😉

//BREAKTHROUGH IN CANCER THERAPY WITH DNA NANOROBOTS
Cancer is still one of the most feared diseases killing millions of people worldwide every year.
The problem in usual cancer therapies is that you also kill healthy cells.
The nanorobot developed by the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm act as a kind of switch activating the cancer treatment only at the right time and in the right place.
This is possible because the robot’s weapon is hidden in a nanostructure & exposed only in the tumour microenvironment, sparing healthy cells.
“Tests conducted using these nanorobots on laboratory animals (mice) suffering from breast cancer led to a significant reduction (around 70%) in cancer cell growth,” explained Yang Wang, lead author of the study.
“We now need to investigate whether this works in more advanced cancer models that more closely resemble the real human disease. Of course, we also need to assess any possible side effects.”
We truly hope that this therapy helps make cancer become a thing of the past.

//THE NIGHTMARE OF PARENTS AND PET OWNERS
Do you know that? One moment of non attention and they’re gone.
It’s like they’ve disappeared from the face of the earth.
What follows is an emotional rollercoaster of fear, anger, and worries.
Here comes the relief, provided by HelpMee.
Whether it’s tags for your pets or SOS bracelets for your kids – they will help you find them and can even save lives because you can add data which are relevant in case of an emergency.
We love those products – not only because they make parents and pet owners sleep better.
Do you think they could be or would have been of use for yourself as well?
PS: This video is from the manufacturer’s TikTok profile. It shows how the owner of a lost dog can be found thanks to the tag and the app.

//THE CONTAINER REVOLUTION
Containers need space, even if they stand idle in warehouses or wherever.
That needs space and costs a lot of money.
These foldable containers collapsing within 80 seconds, make container handling and storage way easier and less expensive, while also responding to port congestion issues.
Folding containers can be expanded or contracted as needed, which makes them very suitable for temporary construction, mobile offices, emergency rescue and other scenarios.
What are your thoughts?
Do you like them as much as we do?

//LUGGAGE HANDLING NEXT LEVEL
There are innovations, where you think: Why haven’t they been there before?
This luggage handling system by TAWI - A brand by Piab Group looks so simple, but is genius at the same time.
It reduces the risk of accidents, back strain and injuries.
And it’s a great example of how innovation can really help people.
Making workplaces safer and finding responses to the limitations of the human body doesn’t only contribute to people’s health and comfort, but also helps increase productivity.
What recent innovations do you know that contribute to a healthier and safer workplace?

//EVERYONE’S GOT THEIR OWN INNER MAP
Same context, same business, different people – different maps.
And it's no different when you engage with customers: Each person carries a unique map made up of their individual knowledge, experiences, needs, and motivations.
Thus, to build a successful business and make your innovations truly impactful, you must first understand the legend of your own map: what drives and inspires you.
And you need to understand the map of your (prospective) customers – why they want to make their journey and what they need for that.
They understand that you are the right travel companion for their travel experience? Good for you.
Because that’s what people finally buy: experiences aligning with their inner maps. Not just what you’ve designed with your own goals in mind.
Being able to read and understand inner maps is, therefore, key to the success of your innovation and your business.
But how do you unlock this understanding?
The answer lies in effective communication. It’s the bridge that connects your map to theirs, fostering genuine insight and trust.
How do you approach understanding the unique ‘maps’ of your customers? What strategies have helped you communicate effectively and build deeper connections?
You wanna know how to bring your innovation ideas to market?

/GREAT INNOVATORS ARE EMPATHETIC AND LISTEN
There is that constant question about what makes some innovators so successful.
And there’s not that single simple answer.
But what they do have in common are their empathetic and listening skills.
With them, they learn about their target audience’s wants and needs, while putting themselves in their shoes.
That way, the focus is not on what they want to build, but on the customers and their journey.
Those are not ready to buy what you think is great or what they neither understand nor need.
What they buy though are solutions and experiences.
To create those, however, you have to listen actively and understand through empathy.
Only if you understand will you probably build what people really want.
Moreover, people want to be heard.
They want to be convinced, not persuaded.
In this video, Simon Sinek talks about the power of listening – not for innovators only.

//“A CRISIS IS A TERRIBLE THING TO WASTE“
That’s what Economist Paul Romer says.
But doesn’t that sound weird? Isn’t crisis what destabilizes humans and systems?
Maybe yes, maybe no.
Anyway, according to the “World Uncertainty Index“, corporates will be ridden by crises more frequently and faster.
Which means they are inevitable.
What if crises and disruptive changes are seen as opportunities though?
What if reflexes become reflections?
What if crises are seen as opportunities to strengthen your USP?
According to a survey by the Henderson Institute, 14% of all corporates have seen an increase in turnover and profit in times of crises. .
And even after times of recession, they were able to keep growing.
But what’s their secret?
They see opportunities where others see problems.
They are agile, where others are slow.
They activate their innovation forces, where others get stuck in old patterns.
They implement, where others keep talking.
Bottom Line: Whether you survive or die, prosper or decline will increasingly depend on the way you look at crises and how you deal with them.
Your thoughts?
PS: Responses to crises are not always as easy as demonstrated by Karen Walker from the Will & Grace series. Keep goin’ anyway.
No crisis to waste.
