How is it on your ship/company? In my past experience, this used to vary even in a single company, depending on the ship and the department/manager. While there were departments who had 3 hours of work per day and most of the "staff" departments didn't work more than 9 hours per day, there were other ones where crew was pushed to break maritime laws and not write it down in the official hours.
