„toanol records“ - das neue Ding aus Kiel! Hier sind wir!

„toanol“ - das ist das neue Record-Label aus Kiel. Andreas hat erste Erfahrung bei dem, unter anderem von ihm betriebenen, Label „obey! Nun also die Neuformierung mit Torben an Bord. Mit dem folgenden Text möchten wir uns vorstellen, darlegen was uns inspiriert und einen Ausblick geben, was wir mit und für euch machen

wollen. Wo kommen wir her? Musikalisch sozialisiert sind wir irgendwo im verschwitzen AJZ auf Konzerten von (noch) unbekannten Hardcore- oder Punkbands oder beim Hören unserer ersten Metalscheiben. Unsere Musikgeschmäcker haben sich (weiter)entwickelt, wir haben neue Bands und Musikrichtungen schätzen gelernt und manches ist auch wieder in den Hintergrund getreten. Wir haben sicher unsere Kontroversen beim Thema Musik, aber auch einen gemeinsamen Nenner. Was wollen wir machen? Eine tatsächliche Festlegung welche Musik wir veröffentlichen und supporten wollen, können wir zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt nicht geben (und wollen wir auch nicht). Insgesamt geht es uns um die Musik die wir mögen und hörenswert finden. Das kann der neue, heiße Scheiß sein aber auch vergessene Demo-Tapes oder Live-Mittschnitte die längst verschollen geglaubt waren. Im eigenen Teich

Der lokale Bezug ist uns aus mehreren Gründen wichtig. Zum einen finden wir die Bands und Musikschaffenden mit denen wir immer wieder zu tun haben, unterstützenswert und gerade die lokale Szene war und ist das was uns täglich prägt und antreibt.

Über den Tellerrand

Ebenso wichtig ist uns der Blick über Grenzen hinaus. Besonders spannend ist für uns die Entwicklung in Südamerika, aber auch mit Bands aus Osteuropa, Asien und dem arabischen Raum gibt es einiges zu entdecken. Wir freuen uns schon auf mögliche Zusammenarbeit mit Bands die unter anderen Verhältnissen als wir sie kennen, beeindruckende Musik entwickeln. Was wir scheiße finden

Bei aller Liebe zur Musik steht für uns aber fest, was in ihr keinen Platz hat. Bands oder Musikschaffenden, die in ihren Texten oder an anderen Stellen Gruppenbezogene Menschenfeindlichkeit (Rassismus, Sexismus, Homophobie etc.) vertreten, erteilen wir eine klare Absage. Genauso verhält es sich mit der sogenannten „Grauzone“. Gerade hierbei sind wir auf die Hilfe von der „Szene“ angewiesen. Wir sind sicher nicht die Instanz, die unfehlbar ist. Here we go! "toanol records" – cutting-edge music from Kiel! Moin!* Here we are! "toanol" is the new record label from Kiel, Germany. Andreas gained some experience with the, now non-existent, label "obey! Records", he ran with another co-founder. He teamed up with Torben to found and run this new record label. With the help of this text we would like to introduce ourselves, present some inspirations and give you an idea of our activities with and for you. What are our roots? We were musically socialized in some sweaty AJZ (autonomous youth center) on concerts by (yet) unknown punk or hardcore bands or by listening to our first metal records. Our taste in music evolved: we esteemed new bands and (sub)genres and some fade from the spotlight. What are we up to? At the moment there is no concrete definition of genre we will release and support. That is something we cannot and we do not want to decide now, as it will process during our work. Altogether it will be the music we like and that is worth listening to. This may be the cutting-edge material, demo tapes or (live) recordings that seemed to be forgotten. Our pond

Supporting or being part of the local scene is important to us because of several reasons. First of all the bands and artists we are in contact with or surrounded by are worth being supported in every possible way. It is the local scene influencing and moving us in our everyday life. Outside the box

The view across any borders is equally important to us. Especially the development in South America is exciting. Not forgetting about the bands from e.g. Eastern Europe, Asia and the Arabian area we might discover. We are looking forward to possible collaborations with bands that come up with impressive music, created upon other terms. What we hate

With all due love for music it is clear to us what it must not contain. We reject any bands or musicians representing "group-focused enmity" (racism, sexism, homophobia etc.) in their lyrics or in other situations. We need help by the "scene" as we are surely not infallible. Along these lines we are looking forward to the time with you, for you and particularly for all our record players. Andreas und Torben
