Review
From Keil record company comes the words, “each of the five has contributed two songs to the compilation. The CD also contains a total of ten bonus tracks, additional songs, different mixes, new recordings. The result is a varied, rousing mixture of young, wild Rock’n’roll. "The YOUNG & WILD ones”. So, let’s start with the ten tracks then move onto the bonus tracks, so get your feet up and join me in checking out these young wild ones.
Track by track (the vinyl)
We Are Rockers (Mejer/Jeppsen/Budde)
Fast paced start with wild rockin guitar and drums and the bass nudges through in the background. This Godless Wicked Creeps track was recorded at Rango’s nursery rooms mixed by Salmi Salmiak at snake-pit studios. Rango was just 16 when this track was written and recorded. showing an abundance of talent at such an early age. Currently with bands BoigruB, The Rusty Robots and plays frequently with the Griswalds. Great start.
Undead (Pirnke)
Great intro with the bass, guitar and drums fighting for dominance whilst jerry gives us a rockin vocal and guitar. Backed by Merv on both drums and bass. Tom Toxic helping on the backing vocals. There is a few choice words that radio DJs may need to be aware of. Drums and bass recorded at undead studios and guitar and vocals recorded by Tom Toxic at Servants’ chamber studios keil and mixed by Salmi Salmiak at snake-pit studios.
Stranger in the house (Undead)
Very energetic start to a track written and performed by Merv also playing all the instruments, a real credit to him, at twenty years of age to be playing a plethora of instruments plus vocals just shows the dedication to the music he produces. Again, some lyrics that DJs need to edit before (some stations) radio play. Awesome track though. Love the outro in this track.
The Package (Heider-Kruit)
A change of pace but some great Bass and drums being delivered. second oldest on the album at 22 years of age but vocally very good. Also taking the lead on the guitar. Helped by musicians Uli Step, on bass and Moritz Kruit on drums and backing vocals. The backing music really stands out on this track and sure to get your feet tapping along. Recorded at Moritz home studio.
A Life of Vanity (Evans)
A very good mid-tempo track with some awesome bass leading the way, guitar joins in with some rockin licks and the drums keeps alongside the bass. Self-penned by paddy who gives a great vocal style to this track. he is joined on the track by Mark Twang on guitar and Raphael Landauer whipping the drumsticks. Really good track. Recorded plus mixed at Henne of psycofarmaka at Ton Zone studios.
Hot Rod Man (Pirnke)
This second track from jerry and he’s back delivering another rocker. The drums and bass stand out whilst the guitar twangs until the break when he comes out with fire for fingers. Once again language just may hold it back for some DJs and stations. But it fits in with the story of the track after all he's a hot rod man.
Treasure (Heider-Kruit)
Real nineteen fifties feel to the second helping from the Jonas Heider songbook. Nice to hear some piano on the break, really fits in with the rhythm of the track. simple lyrics that just go along nicely. I hear a few little editing issues but nothing that spoils the track. Slappin Rockabee joins the line up putting the ivory of the piano to the song. And once again recorded at Moritz home studio.
Metro (Rango)
Fast paced high octane with plenty of slap bass. A brilliant track that will have you tapping away.Recorded by Rango Meißner at Rangos Nursery Room. Mixed by Salmi Salmiak at Snakepit Studio.
666cc Machine (Evans)
The bass, drums and guitar combine forces to give the opening of this track a fast rockin treat. Paddy opens his range with a powerful vocal. “No reason for me to stop” is the lyrics and I wish this one didn’t. a short track that could have gone another minute with them instrumental breaks. joined once again with Mark Twang and Raphael Landauer who seem to Gel together when recording, Henne of Psycofarmaka at Ton Zone studios was the place of recording.
Too Old to Live, Too Young to Die. (undead)
A wild and young fast paced psychobilly ending to the album by Marv. Wicked drums and a wild guitar give an hectic fast paced high octane tempo. The walls of Jericho will be falling from the vibrations of this great track. merv who can be found performing with the Brains and King Morol at present. Recorded at the undead studios and mixed by Rene Le Muerte @ Powell Street Studios in in Vancouver
Summary
The album really rocks and is put together well from the label. The five guys really do come across as great entertainers. The label does comment on the cover that not enough young blood is in the scene right now, breaking through is tough with such talent out there, but on saying that talent will shine and come through in the end. Here are five great lads that deserve the break and I feel sure it will happen soon Either as a musician or vocalist. This cd must come with guidance that it contains lyrics that may offend some listeners. You can find this cd and its collection of 10 demos from the lads from the link.
Recommendation
Yes, it’s a good album!
"The YOUNG & WILD ones", these are 5 young musicians who were between sixteen and twenty-six years young when they recorded the songs they contributed to this compilation."the YOUNG & WILD ones" are.
Paddy, then 26, who thrills us with his Neo-Rockabilly, songs with a twanging guitar, driving rhythm and clear vocals. Paddy has already played the double bass for the "Rusty Robots", "Pychofarmaka" or "Sandy & the Wild Wombats", among others. He is currently on tour worldwide as the frontman of the band "The Dukes of Tijuana".
Jerry, 19 at the time, who plays a wild mixture of Desperate and Teddy-Boy Rock'n'Roll that spreads an impetuous mood of departure and adventure. Jerry has already been on stage with the "Rockin' Batz" and "Philip Doyle", among others. He is currently the guitarist for "Redneck Redemption", who have already performed with stars like "Batmobile" and "Guana Batz".
Rango, then 16, who presents us here with music for which he is much too young. He perfectly interweaves the melancholy of Post-Punk and New Wave with the aggressiveness of Psychobilly to take us on a journey to the darker side of Rock'n'Roll. At a young age, Rango has been allowed to play the double bass for the "Griswalds", among others. Now he is bassist for "The Rusty Robots" and "BoigruB".
Marv, 20 at the time, who blasts us typical US Psychobilly rockers. As a fan of American Psycho-bands, he already had the great honour of touring as a bass player with the legendary "The Brains". Mostrecently he was active for the project "De La Rocka"...Jones, then 22, whose melodic songs clearly show his preference for the "Stray Cats" and the Neo-Rockabilly of the 80s. Jones already played his Gretsch for „Biggs B Sonic“and also helped out with„Dave Phillips“. Currently, he is the frontman of "The Stranger Cats" and lead guitarist of "Kalle Wolf & his Pack".
