PrayerSoul

PrayerSoul a storyteller in essence but a musician in expression. This Zimbabwean native is a singer-songwriter who tells authentic African stories through neo-soul music. Prayersoul’s repertoire consists of his debut self titled album Prayersoul(2012), Prayersoul Live At The Old Mutual Theatre Ep(2015) and his recently released sophomore album While I Was Away(2017).

Even more Prayersoul has added color to this repertory through tours in Germany with Jamaram, performing at the iconic Venice Biennale in Italy, sharing his work in Edinburgh, Scotland to coming back to the region and gracing stages in South Africa, Malawi and Namibia, not to mention the countless festivals, shows, weddings and corporate events he performs at, at home.

Prayersoul is a true performer his ability to connect and engage with the audience is overwhelmingly impressive. As a solo performer with voice and guitar he connects intimately, it’s always a journey but wait until you experience him with a full band, it gets bigger and better, his charisma becomes the fabric that holds it all together making it more than just a performance but an experience.

Apart from teaching guitar part time, Prayersoul extends his influence to help orphans and orphanage homes with his philanthropic drive through The Prayersoul Foundation. “If I can reach just one more person to let them know that they can, then I’ve been a huge success”- Prayersoul

What Prayer says about his music: „My music is a heavily influenced by NeoSoul music with a blend of African languages and sounds so would be best described as NeoSoul with Afro Fusions..I mostly perform with an acoustic guitar but can also play a little bit of piano.“

Tonight we are happy to have guests from Latin America and South Africa! And it will be truly sweet! Because we talk with the artist Sofía Carrasco, who lives in Ecuador, about chocolate as a material for forms and sculptures. In addition, we are happy about the musician ItuSings (Itumeleng Tshabane), who joins us from Pretoria. Be there and participate in the show via comments and questions on the popular social media channels of Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and twitch.

Sofía Carrasco

Sofía Carrasco from Quito, Ecuador, is a plastic artist by profession. Her training began in the 1998 at the Central University of Ecuador, within the branches of the arts. In 2002 she continued her studies at the Kunsthochschule Kassel (Higher School of Arts in the city of Kassel-Germany), where she concentrated on working in the ceramics and modeling workshop.
Retiring to Ecuador she worked as a teacher of visual arts and illustration professionals in the country. Her mother made artisan chocolates for her business at the time. SofÍa sporadically helped her, so her interest in chocolate was born. She learned to handle fine aroma chocolate at a professional level and began to work applying her knowledge of the plastic arts and thus developing a new concept in artistic chocolate.
Sofía Carrasco’s "Art in Chocolate" was born. Her design is developed based on themes that reminds her of experiences, memories and fantasy. Chocolate, being a ritual food and pre-Hispanic power, brings with it a long history and cultural load. Infinite forms of preparation, the symbology around chocolate and its mysticism belong to the Ecuadoreanian heritage.
By being able to feel closely all these traditions, her work with chocolate became not only another element of creation but also a bridge to her cultural identity: Communing with nature, with the ephemeral, the beauty of the physical and with the sensuality of the senses.

Our guest in this episode of Moving Stories: Alejandro D. Muñoz. He is a professional contemporary dancer - born, raised and living in Cuba waiting for his visa for Germany. He was part of the Escuela Nacionale de Arte (ENA) for a few years and danced around the world with his group. But his life wasn’t and isn’t always that glamourous or spectacular as you might think. We were talking with him about the hard circumstances living in Cuba at the moment and also about the patriarchal prejudices he was faced with as male dancer in his childhood. It is a moving episode so be prepared, grab a cup of coffee and dive into the life of Alejandro D. Muñoz.

✏️MEET THE FOUNDER OF MOVING SCHOOL: Dr.Ludwig Möller:

✏️Asked what he is doing Ludwig sometimes answers: „I am a midwife!“ Looking into startled faces he adds: „ A midwife for ideas, projects and life orientation“. It’s his way giving a condense answer that brings together his life time experience and professions with his degrees in sports, theology and Integrative Therapy.

“In my professional and personal life I went with people through heaven and hell counseling people from all ages and social status in Germany and around the world. Not one story is like the other!“  says Ludwig.

That’s how he became aware of how different and powerful personal life stories can be! And how listening or even watching them have a deep impact in his own life.

Ludwig’s grandmother started his love for stories. As a boy he would listen to her when she sat down knitting and telling stories from Noah’s arc, Daniel in the lions cage or Red riding hood.

He says: „Sitting together and sharing stories from your life forms an intimate relationship. A precious time where we share laughter and tears, inspire and console each other! Moving Stories is like sitting in my parents kitchen where strangers were always welcome to share a meal and the soul food of one’s story!“

✏️We wish you all the best as we enter a New Year. Don’t forget to listen to our podcasts and thank you for creating something that unites people to share their beautiful and unique stories.
