Take a look behind the scenes of director Pablo Larraín's critically acclaimed “Maria," which tells the biographical story of Maria Callas, as she retreats to Paris and reflects on her life and career in the final 7 days before her death in 1977.

Alice Brooks ASC first met director Jon M. Chu at USC Film School, where he asked her to shoot his short film, a musical. Since then, they have cemented their working relationship and mutual love of musicals on various projects. Their latest collaboration, “Wicked,” is a towering achievement of musical cinema, receiving 10 Oscar nominations, an ASC nomination for Cinematography, and many more international award nods. Students of the BTS Cinéma et Audiovisuel in Luxemburg had the chance to get to know analog and digital cameras at ARRI Rental Luxembourg just before Christmas. The participants were able to test cameras like the ARRIFLEX 416, ARRIFLEX 235, ALEXA 35 with anamorphic lenses and gained lots of valuable knowledge.

Cinematographer Krystian Winszewski took a break from filming his documentary “GT40 – The Road to Spa” to help ARRI shoot an ALEXA 265 reel that explores the ways this tiny camera, with its huge sensor, expands the possibilities of 65 mm filmmaking.

“As a filmmaker with a deep passion for both cinematography and classic racing cars, combining these two loves on set was truly a dream come true. Having the opportunity to film three Ford GT40s on the track using the ARRI ALEXA 265 was one of the most exciting and memorable experiences in my career. The 65 mm sensor produces images that are nothing short of spectacular. The level of detail, texture, and richness in the footage is amazing.” – DP Krystian Winszewski

Yesterday the Queer Film Festival Munich opened its doors to show a diversity of films besides mainstream cinema and its heteronormative rules. The festival program is focused on local and international productions and newly discovered queer-classics.
