The premise of "What you don’t see", directed by Samuel Ramm, was to prove that shooting analog film in an LED-Volume is possible. For the production DP Luis Zappe was working with an ARRICAM ST and investigated the following questions: "What happens when you combine 35mm film and LED volumes?", "How do you integrate film into an entirely digital production environment?", "How can celluloid film benefit moiré, color rendering and the overall look?" In cooperation with , Luis shot a two minute narrative short film to uncover the challenges and potential when combining the oldest and newest tools in the film industry.

Two analog short films, the four legendary formats, two DPs, the ARRIFLEX 765 supplied by Munich - the name of the movies: "Cut" (DP Kristoffer Aabo) and "Nothing ventured" (DP Anders Lindved), both directed by Jesper Tønnes. The short films explore the themes of personal risk, emotional depth, and transformation in captivating ways and blend the richness of analog with the intensity of narrative and movement. “Nothing ventured” is a raw, character-driven noir-action-thriller and “Cut” is a bold flamenco dance film, using the power and grace of flamenco to express the same themes through movement.

Last weekend the third edition of the Filmfest Trier took place and is very happy to see an increase of the attending audience. The festival's founders aim to develop Trier into a film location and to support filmmakers from Trier and the greater region. Luxembourg supported three of the festival´s prices with vouchers for film equipment. Congratulations to the winners!

Yesterday the Q***r Film Festival Munich opened its doors to show a diversity of films besides mainstream cinema and its heteronormative rules. The festival program is focused on local and international productions and newly discovered q***r-classics. The festival presents the current international q***r film scene within various festival sections including documentaries, animations, mini-series and feature films. is happy to award the Jury Award. We are very saddened by the news that our esteemed colleague Peter Buck has passed away at the age of 84. He used to work at ARRI Rental for more than 40 years. We will always honour his memory, our sympathy goes out to his family.

Simon Petitjean, final year student at «La Fémis» film school in Paris shot his final film "In Persona Christi" with the ALEXA XT Monochrome and wrote his dissertation on black and white film. "This type of camera would allow me to approach filming with the full experience of creating a black and white film. Nowadays, achrome fiction cinematography is in opposition to a certain realism. With colour having become the norm, black and white is now associated with an ‘art effect’. This artistic prism allows for its own exploration of light and atmosphere."

"I think that it's only by practicing the different techniques available that you can choose the most appropriate method for each film project."

The movie is premiering today at the Cinémathèque Française in Paris.

"The small size of the ALEXA 35 was extremely helpful because some of our sets were built to be as claustrophobic as possible, but the camera was so compact that we could put it wherever we wanted. And then the wide dynamic range of the ALEXA 35 was just mind-blowing. We had to handle so many different light sources at the same time, but the camera responded beautiful in all of our light conditions, capturing an amazing amount of detail in the highlights and shadows. Sometimes we pushed the ISO setting in low light, but we never felt that we were introducing any noise." Alien: Romulus cinematographer Galo Olivares on shooting with the ALEXA 35.

🍿 🍿 🍿 "The ARRIFLEX SR3 along with the 416 and the first ALEXA camera taught me how to make films. I still use ARRI cameras whenever possible. ARRICAMs were my first choice because they are so reliable and intuitive to use.
I love shooting on film. There is something magical about the whole process that cannot be replicated digitally. The general atmosphere on set is different when a film camera is used."

Nothing is what it seems in the stylish horror film "Cuckoo" which is the latest project from cinematographer Paul Faltz. 17 year old Gretchen moves from America with her family to the German Alps where she discovers a shocking secret that concerns her whole family.
After a successful premiere at the 2024 Berlinale "Cuckoo" is now in cinemas on general release. ARRI Rental supported the project with camera and lenses.

Cinematographer and HFF Professor Christian Rein redesigned the Munich film school’s “On-Location Lighting” course, aligning it with modern on-set practices to prepare the students for their future careers in the best possible way. DP Elias C. J. Köhler, BVK shot the fast-paced action drama "Rock’n’ Roll Ringo" with ARRICAM LT, Master Primes and a huge lighting package. The equipment was supplied by Berlin: "I aimed for a timeless and gritty look, so we chose 35mm 2-perf from the start. The ARRICAM LT paired with Master Primes was the perfect setup. The lenses delivered a great look with their superior sharpness and contrast, allowing me to shoot wide open when needed without sacrificing quality." The protagonist is persuaded by a fairground operator to start a second career as a boxer in order to fulfill a long-cherished dream of his deaf daughter. Now screening in selected theaters.

DP Julian Zalac, Associate Member CSC on shooting the q***r short movie drama "Dam": "After testing I chose the ALEXA XT because I felt that the large and heavy body perfectly suited the handheld look. We combined the ALEXA XT with Cooke Anamorphic/i S35 which gave us beautiful colors and character. When I want to achieve a natural look I tend to go to the ALEXA series as it is reproducing colors in the most natural way to my eye." Protagonist Lou lives with an anxiety-avoidant personality disorder. Fears and doubts are her everyday companions. Film maker Noreen Erkardas wishes for more films in the future that feature q***r characters in leading roles and stories, without explicitly having to address the topic. In her opinion there is still a lot of education and equality needed in the world.
