When it comes to materials, there are lots of confusing terms, so what do we mean when we say some of our products are biobased? It indicates that part or all the raw material comes from plants and other renewable sources, like corn, sugarcane, starch, cellulose or animal by-products. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is biodegradable (although some biobased products are), but it does mean we can move away from finite fossil-fuel-based materials.

Using paper string for hangtags makes recycling easier because the complete tag, including the string, can be disposed of in the paper waste stream.
Our enhanced FSC™ certified paper string is soft and flexible — similar to textiles string — and is unlike standard paper string, which tends to be stiff and doesn’t drape as well on the garment. Come and see us at Munich Fabric Start between 18th -20th of July!

It represents the ongoing process to create a more responsible offer, from design to delivery. Currently, 85% of our design collections use fibres and raw materials that we consider “preferred”.

Keeping materials in reuse loops is vital for a circular society, so we offer GRS certified recycled metals for products like buttons, accessories, charms, labels, studs. This reduces waste, resources and energy and is ideal for long-lasting items. We aim to avoid mixed materials or coatings for easier recycling of the metal at end of life. Since recycled metal can be weak, it is combined with 55-60% virgin metal.

We often recommend TENCEL™ branded Lyocell because of its circular benefits—it’s made from certified wood in a closed-loop process, the fibres are both compostable and biodegradable in different natural environments.
