What’s the tee? 👕

is an annual publication created by students of the Amsterdam Fashion Institute is back with its 22nd edition: ‚The t-shirt issue‘. This year’s magazine shifts its gaze to a garment so familiar, it’s almost invisible: the t-shirt. With billions of t-shirts produced every year, the scale is impossible to ignore. In a world where more is never enough, the 2025 issue calls for a pause. It invites readers to shift their perspectives, to appreciate what they already have, and to recognise the true value of the t-shirt. Because a t-shirt isn’t just a t-shirt. It’s everywhere. And it matters. The magazine explores the power of the t-shirt by presenting two contrasting worlds: one with the t-shirt, and one without. Its singular fold-out format reflects this duality: begin reading from either side to explore each perspective, or open both together to experience the contrast in full.

the future belongs to whose who want it 💫

One of our very favourite reads exploring youth culture is back with The Radicial Issue featuring supermodel Mona Tougaard and The Face regular Goldie as well as musician Cortisa Star, actors Brian Tyree Henry and Paz de la Huerta, fashion designer Ellen Hodakova Larsson, and comedian Kareem Rahma, best known for his subway interviews in New York (‘I like to think of Subway Takes as a magazine,’ he explains). Plus, the rise of the experimental Nu China scene, and profiles of young trans women in the UK, in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling.

Launched by Nick Logan in London in 1980, The Face was at the heart of British and international creativity for over 25 years. In 2019, The Face was relaunched and reborn. Der Lauf der Zeit ⏱

Happy Birthday 🎉 dérive erscheint seit Sommer 2000 vierteljährlich in Wien und versteht sich als interdisziplinäre Plattform zum Thema Stadtforschung. Die behandelten Felder reichen von Architektur, Stadt- und Landschaftsplanung, Raumordnung und Bildender Kunst bis zu Geographie, Soziologie, Politik- und Medienwissenschaften und Philosophie. Thematisiert werden globale Problemstellungen, die im lokalen Rahmen behandelt werden und Aufschlüsse über die gegenwärtige Stadtentwicklung geben sollen.

Die 100. Ausgabe von dérive widmet sich dem Thema Zeit – den langen Linien historischer Entwicklung genauso wie momenthaften Ereignissen. Die Vorstellung vom linearen Fortschritt verkennt, dass der geschichtliche Verlauf keiner determinierenden Logik folgt, sondern als brüchig, ungleich und widersprüchlich verstanden werden muss. Im Fokus des Heftes stehen zunächst die Aspekte Planung und Alltag. In mehreren Beiträgen wird auf scheinbare Diskrepanzen zwischen der Langfristigkeit großer Planungsvorhaben und langer Entwicklungen und der damit einhergehenden, unumgänglichen Geduld einerseits sowie der Notwendigkeit rasch auf geänderte Voraussetzungen oder Krisen reagieren zu können, andererseits Bezug genommen. Eine tatsächliche Diskrepanz – und darüber ist ebenso im Schwerpunkt zu lesen – besteht darin, dass zwar jede:r von uns jeden Tag aufs Neue 24 Stunden zur Verfügung hat, aber die Verteilung der selbstbestimmten, freien Zeit höchst ungleich ist. Die Taktung des städtischen Alltags folgt keiner synchronen Partitur, sie wird konflikthaft hervorgebracht.
