Evening News?!
In case you missed the tiny headline among all the terrible stuff happening in politics and the world:
Our little Instagram account has somehow surpassed 1000 followers! Big thanks for the support — much appreciated!
This account exists for one simple reason: to promote our local event series here in Hamburg — nothing more, nothing less.
You could argue that this is just a passion project for obscure niche music from dusty & scratchy old records. We, however, see it as keeping a spirit alive and sharing the music we personally can't live without — introducing new people to the beautiful sounds that emerged from Jamaica in the 60s and early 70s.
Enough words — let the music talk.
To celebrate and as a small thanks for your support, here’s a Treasure Isle double-sider from the golden days of Jamaican music (dating back to 1966). The beautiful vocal side by Justin Hinds & The Dominoes aligns perfectly with our goal to "Teach The Youth" about the sweet sound of Young Jamaica. As a side note, the intro of the tune is a wonderful adaptation of Lord Creator’s "Evening News".
Flipping the record over, you get the striking "Windfall" by Tommy McCook & The Supersonics!
