[.de]Das Label ECHOZONE wurde im Jahr 2006 als Sublabel der Produktions- und Vermarktungsfirma BOB-MEDIA GmbH & Co. KG gegründet. Nach den ersten Veröffentlichungen der Bands AKANOID und Dead Guitars (The Convent, 12 Drummers Drumming) aus den Jahren 2006/2007 begann das Label ab 2008 sein Portfolio and Künstlern und Bands im alternativen Bereich zwischen Electro-Pop, Indie, Wave-Rock, Gothic und Electro stetig auszubauen. Mit mittlerweile über 80 Bands und mehr als 200 Veröffentlichungen konnte sich das Label in der alternativen Musikszene, aber auch darüber hinaus einen Namen machen und die Marke ECHOZONE etablieren. Zu den Veröffentlichungen der letzten Jahre gehören unter anderem THE MISSION, !distain, IKON, Wayne Hussey, Me.Man.Machine und Mob Research. Zum grundlegenden Konzept des Labels gehören regelmässige, auch genreübergreifende, Veröffentlichungen im physischen und digitalen Bereich. In der Regel werden im Jahr zwischen 20 und 30 Album-CDs sowie zahlreiche EPs und DVDs veröffentlicht. Dabei wird viel Wert auf die langfristige Zusammenarbeit mit den Künstlern gelegt, sodass sich immer wieder etablierte Bands mit Newcomern im Rahmen eines Veröffentlichungszyklus zusammen finden.

Über die hausinterne BOB-MEDIA Vermarktungsabteilung sowie externen Agenturen (z.B. Die4Firma, Hardbeat) und etablierten Printpartnern (z.B. Zillo, Sonic Seducer, Legacy, Rocks, Gothic Magazin, Orkus) wird die Promotion im Print, Online, Radio und TV Bereich durchgeführt. Die Produkte des Labels werden über unterschiedliche Vertriebe angeboten, um den unterschiedlichen Anforderungen der einzelnen Projekte gerecht zu werden. So kooperiert das Label mit Soulfood, EDEL, ZYX, NEO/Sonic Music, der eigenen Vertriebsfirma BOB-MEDIA sowie international mit ausgewählten Vertriebspartnern. Als Partnerlabel des Rocklabels Fastball-Music (u.a. Jaded Heart, Tokyo Blade, Blowsight) und im Verbund mit BOB-MEDIA gehört das Nutzen dieses Verbundnetzwerks zum wesentlichen Grundkonzept des Labels. Dabei wird vor allem die hauseigene Vermarktungs-, Audio - und Videoproduktionsabteilung intensiv eingesetzt, um den Bands eine möglichst breit gefächerte Struktur zu bieten. Angeschlossen an die BOB-MEDIA sind die hauseigenen Verlage BOB-MEDIA und BOB-MEDIA Licensing sowie eine umfassende Lizenzabteilung, die mittlerweile über ein Repertoir von über 10.000 Musiktiteln aller Genres verfügt. „And now, for something completely different.“ Inspired by the playful spirit of the classic catchphrase from Monty Pythons’s Flying Circus and the Beatles‘ legendary Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane release, BALTES & ZÄYN’s latest single is a double A-side. The listener will be regaled with a dizzyingly whiplash-inducing, startling contrast between the bombastic EBM anthem, German-language AUGENLOS DOCH ALLES SEHEND inspired by Fritz Lang and Thea von Harbou’s seminal science fiction film, Metropolis, and ANG DILÁG NA TAGÁ-IPANEMA, a freely translated Tagalog rendition of Astrud Gilberto, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes‘ bossa nova and easy listening classic, The Girl from Ipanema, in ZÄYN’S native Filipino language.

AUGENLOS DOCH ALLES SEHEND one of the A-sides, this time sung in German, means "eyeless, yet all-seeing" – hallmark of the sinister "Gottmaschinen" – the "God-machines"– that serve Fredersen, the autocratic, megalomaniac architect and absolute ruler of the astonishing, prophetically retro-futuristic megalopolis, METROPOLIS, of Fritz Lang’s now nearly one hundred year old visionary classic of silent film.

After an excursion to the titanic, dystopian Los Angeles of Ridley Scott and Philip K. Dick’s Blade Runner in RACHAEL OF THE SMOKEY EYES, this song revisits Lang’s Metropolis, which served as Blade Runner’s inspiration. Narrated from the point of view of Fredersen, BALTES‘ virtuosic, driving EBM instrumental backing and ZÄYN‘S strident, ranting German Sprechgesang chant, AUGENLOS DOCH ALLES SEHEND compellingly chronicles Fredersen‘s descent into megalomania and mental eclipse. The German lyrics are based not only on the 1927 film, but also on the treatment, later novel, written by Thea von Harbou, Lang’s estranged wife, in 1925, containing fascinating scenes not in the movie.

Nothing could be more diametrically opposed to the stentorian, German vocal delivery of AUGENLOS DOCH ALLES SEHEND with its backing of synthesizer-generated industrial mayhem evoking a boundless central European oecumenopolis than the caressively sung Tagalog lyrics of ANG DILÁG NA TAGÁ-IPANEMA, floating in the oceanic foam of a melodious and carefree easy listening instrumental evoking a balmy, bucolic afternoon on a tropical beach.
