We’re thrilled to support their incredible artistic visions with a grant of 500€ each. Here’s a glimpse into their upcoming projects:

🌿 Clare Celeste () is an artist and environmentalist who uses thousands of hand-cut images of flora and fauna to craft immersive installations that reflect the fragility of our planet's ecosystems. With the grant, she will create an intricate, large-scale, nature-inspired installation that beautifully and powerfully communicates the urgent issue of biodiversity loss.

🖌 Theic () is a painter and muralist from Uruguay renowned for his realistic human figures, portraits, botanical designs, and storytelling rooted in local culture. Since moving to Portugal, he has been inspired to incorporate the traditional art of tile painting into his own unique style. With the grant, he will transform this vision into reality, and we can’t wait to see how he blends this tradition with his signature work!

🎹 Marie Chain () is a globe-trotting singer, songwriter, pianist, DJ, and visionary festival producer with a mission to inspire and uplift souls worldwide. With the grant, she will bring her new song, 'Holy Water' to life—a track that evolved into Afro Blues style following a profoundly inspiring journey to Angola. We can’t wait to hear it!

Andrea van Reimersdahl, an accomplished artist with an MFA in painting under from the Berlin Weissensee School of Art, seamlessly blends the worlds of painting, architecture, design, installation, and textile art. Based in Berlin and originally from Bocholt, near the German-Dutch border, specializes in both indoor and outdoor murals, as well as screen printing.

Her abstract murals, characterized by an organic language, are created using facade or emulsion paint with rollers or brushes. These murals focus on the interplay of colors and shades, developed from her shadow silhouette to symbolize diversity. Andrea's designs are meticulously crafted digitally, emphasizing the transformation of hard edges into soft contours. Through transparency and layering, she conveys a sense of interconnectedness.

Andrea’s collaboration with architects and designers extends her abstract, organic design language to hand-printed curtains and room textiles. Her expertise in various textiles allows her to produce unique curtains and other room textiles that enhance interior spaces.

Her artistic journey includes grants and awards from prestigious organizations such as the , the , and the Kulturwerk der VG-Bild Kunst. In 2023, she was awarded a residency scholarship from the DKB Foundation at Schloss Liebenberg. Her work is part of several private collections, reflecting her growing influence and recognition in the art world. 🌟🎨🚀

👆 Those are the names of the three artists who are the recipients of our first round of the Basa Community Grants (3 x 500€)! 🏅✨

First of all, we are overwhelmed by the hundreds of applications that flew into our inbox. It is so energizing to see how many artists are pursuing their dreams and goals and who keep creating, innovating, and bringing joy to this world. Second, many of you had such amazing ideas on how to grow your art practice. It was incredibly difficult to choose. We are sure that you all still find a way to fund your goals.

Here is a small insight into the grant recipients and their plans:

🎙 EBM (.beatbox) is a beatboxer, and sound quality is essential to his art practice. He is already a Beatbox Champion and ready to jump to even higher levels. We will help fund high-quality sound equipment for better sound, create better videos, and ultimately reach more people and better clients.

🎪 Jessie Rose () is a circus artist specializing in aerial, hula hoop, and roller skating. As for any performer, innovation and the creation of new acts are indispensable to stay relevant, visible, and bookable by old and new clients. We help fund the custom creation of new equipment for a new act, as well as a professional coach to refine the new show.

🖋 Vanessa Schumm () offers live illustration for events and weddings. She is ready for an overall upgrade of her art practice and we'll help fund taking photos of a new service that she will offer, a printer to upgrade her offer for existing clients who are already asking for print customization, an SEO course, and improvement of her website.

Malditas Ternura is a dynamic duo hailing from the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Comprised of Sisa Soldati and Sofi Mele, these talented women are not only visual artists and muralists but also educators, bringing their expertise to classrooms and city walls alike.

With backgrounds in Visual Arts and Graphic Design from prestigious institutions such as UNA and UBA, .ternura has been making waves in the urban art scene for over a decade. In 2022, they officially joined forces to form this powerful collective, driven by a shared passion for exploring gender-focused mural interventions.

Their work is not just about creating art—it's about sparking critical dialogue and fostering collective reflection through the images they bring to life in public spaces. Drawing inspiration from nature and the rich history of art, Malditas Ternura delves into questions of environmentalism and the portrayal of femininity in classical paintings.

They challenge traditional notions of gender identity, viewing it as a fluid and ever-evolving social construct. By infusing their art with new perspectives, Malditas Ternura seeks to create visual narratives that resonate with contemporary audiences and provoke thought on pressing societal issues.

Amanda Arrou-Tea (a. k. a. ), born in San Sebastián, Spain, is an artist whose work challenges the phallocentric norms of society, especially in how it objectifies and sexualizes the female body. Through her art, she portrays mermaids as empowered beings, stripped of societal expectations and free to exist as they truly are. Her paintings depict mermaids immersed in their own existence, free from the constraints of clothing or societal labels. They represent a rebellion against the objectification of women and a celebration of individuality.

Having studied Fine Arts in both Spain and France, Amanda's artistic journey has been shaped by her experiences in different cultural contexts. She honed her skills in painting during her time in Bordeaux and Seville, where she specialized in audiovisual arts and painting, respectively. Her studies were complemented by her time in Mérida, Mexico, where she directed an art gallery and rediscovered her passion for art.

Since settling in Berlin in 2016, Amanda has continued to push the boundaries of her art, working as both a muralist for various companies and a freelance studio artist. Her "Mermaid" series, which she has been developing since her time in Mexico, has garnered attention internationally, with exhibitions in countries such as Spain, Portugal, France, the UK, Germany, and Greece.

Through her unique blend of abstraction and realism, Amanda captures the ephemeral beauty of the moment, often using water as a medium to convey the instability of existence.
