Today, there would be no record of artworks, exhibitions or performances without photographic documentation, and over time, art documentation photography has become increasingly important. But what is the relationship between a work of art and its photographic reproduction? What is the difference between our natural perception of an object and the perception conveyed by photography? In an attempt to find answers to these and other questions, this book combines the findings of international photographers of art documentation with categorising scientific texts.
The layout places the ideas and conceptions of the photographers at the centre. Their answers to the same questions are large and unmissable. And it quickly becomes clear that art documentation can be „seen“ in very different ways.

The starting point of the exhibition is the graphic novel ‘Qanga’ by comic artist .godtfredsen , who immerses the reader in the past of his homeland, Greenlandic culture and history. What does it tell us about the people who shape this city, about those who live in it and those who own the buildings? .sadrowski takes us on a walk through Bochum’s city centre. ‘Bochum ungeschminkt’ (from the popular song by ) paints a picture of a multi-faceted city in the Ruhr region, completely unembellished.

The global icons of architecture – reconstructed from food. With this light and playful project, the is attempting to promote dialogue about architecture and to bring the discourse on building culture to the wider community.

Can viewers find the building that matches the food installation? Then the matching sticker can be attached to the double page. The formal language of architecture can be explored in a playful way.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Expressionism not only had a significant influence on the visual arts, but also on other genres in Germany. With their works, the artists give us an insight into their time and what inspired them to create and reflect.
The rough prints of this period are echoed in the chosen typography, while the unfinished painted walls and open edges of the information panels evoke the style of Expressionism.
