These days, it often feels inappropriate to write and publish music revolving only around one's inner life and struggles. I'm not closing my eyes from the world though. It's just that I feel more and more compelled to become more open, more honest, more outspoken. I have learned my whole life to focus on others rather than myself, not to take myself into account. In sharing my inner process of the last two years, not trying to sugarcoat anything, I hope that it resonates with some souls out there, and that our music can be part of someones life, as music has always been for us.
So, here it is: " I hate it when I'm grey, the first single of our upcoming album "Bright black". It's about feeling lost or actually losing yourself, lingering depression and self-doubt. Grey is a gloomy colour.

Less Records 2024 Preview #5

We´re happy to welcome our new artists with their upcoming releases
in our 5th and last preview clip.

Cat & Mauss is the project of Romana Lezaic-Mauss and TG Mauss
Slow pop somewhere between the 60ies, David Lynch, western, bossa and psychodelic songwriting
with some summer vibe music videos.

Voide is the new project of Cologne-based indie drummer and soundtrack composer Axel Schmidt.
Piano tunes of beautiful sparseness in which absence is as important as presence.
Recorded at propeller lab studio, Cologne and mastered by Kai Blankenberg Skyline Tonfabrik Mastering

Both albums will be out very soon.
So, there is a lot of going on in 2024.

Less Records 2024 Preview #4

Today we´re taking a brief look into a future far far away.
Montblanc is Kai Blankenberg long term indie-soundtrack project he’s working on with the help of many friends like, Ben Schadow , Thomas Hannes, Chris Drew of transistorgirl, Lingby and many more.
He was also very lucky to get 3D generalist Edgar Huebert involved for an animated music video of his song Fireman.
Here’s a very rough first scetch of a special outerspace/earth relationship.
More of this in 2024.

And also located in a galaxy nearby is The Modern Air and Space Society
the solo project of Lars Schmidt, a space opera album produced by Lorenz Naumann
combined with a graphic novel mady by German artist Lomp.
Some early animated scetches are already done.
Additional music, voice and sound recordings by Diekmann and Tom Blankenberg
And we´d like to praise the wonderful main female voice Mimi Welldirty
and Daniel Klingen on drums.

So, there‘s is a lot to come in the future far far away,
but tomorrow we will be back with the very next releases and also some new artists.

Less Records 2024 Preview #3

A journey into the past with the destination present day…
The Less Record members are also making music together since ages with their band Subterfuge
Lately they re-recorded some old songs to give them a new life, like the all time classic „Distance“.
In this post combined with video footage of their first music video ever from the early 90ies, made by Martin Ritzenhoff with the help of Jo Titze concept / film / photo 🙏

In contrast the second part of the post is one of our newest entries:
Less co-founder Thomas Baumhoff will provide you with some indie folkish tunes with German lyrics.
This is one of the many things we’re working on for a long time. Release might take a few more months, but waiting is worth it.
