Despite criticism, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) cleared Khelif to compete in the Games. Carini clarified that her decision wasn’t a protest against her opponent but rather a matter of self-preservation. Former Guinean military leader Moussa Dadis Camara plans to appeal his 20-year prison sentence for crimes against humanity. The conviction stems from his involvement in the 2009 massacre during a pro-democracy rally in Conakry, where over 150 people were killed by soldiers. Camara, who took power in a 2008 coup, fled the country after an assassination attempt but returned in September 2022 to stand trial, maintaining his innocence. The trial, which began in November 2022, featured testimony from over 100 survivors and relatives of victims. Camara's lawyers argue he was not adequately allowed to defend himself against these charges during the trial.

The Nigerian economy was far better before he took over. Buhari handed him a stronger economy, which he has now destroyed,” Ariwodor said. This call for resignation comes amid nationwide protests by Nigerians against hunger and poor governance. Ariwodor criticized Tinubu for assuming the presidency without having effective solutions to the country’s challenges. He also cautioned against efforts to suppress peaceful protests, calling such actions an attack on democracy.

But survivors of the Gukurahundi massacre are skeptical.
