Meet our participants - Zifan Ye
"Welcome to our next participant of this year’s #itbcb – Zifan Ye.
The young pianist Zifan Ye was born in 2000 in Inner Mongolia and received his first piano lessons at the age of five. Three years later, he already started his professional studies in the highly gifted piano class of Prof. Xi You at the ""attached Primary School to the Central Conservatory of Music"" in Beijing. Since October 2017, he moved to Germany and continues his music studies at the ""Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media"" in the piano class of Gerrit Zitterbart. Since 2019, he worked with Michel Béroff. Since this year 2021, he continues his master's degree at Hanover with Arie Vardi.
Zifan Ye won the Gundlach Musikpreis in Hannover as the only pianist, (exceed twenty-five thousand euros awarded ) in 2021, also he won the 4th prize and best finalist of 21st ITURBI International Piano Competition this year.
In addition to this, he won the 1st prize of 23th International Piano Competition “Pietro Argento”, 1st prize of 8th International Piano Competition María Herrero, 1st prize of International Piano Competition in France, 2nd prize of “Golden Bell Award” in China, 4th prize of 1st Harmonium International Piano Competition and 4th prize of CCOM Concerto competition. And he also a prize winner of the 4th Vigo International Piano Competition, 19th Spanish Composers International Piano Competition, and 2014 Ettlingen International Piano Competition.
He has got so many mature, ample stage experiences in China and Europe.
In the 2018-2019 two years, Zifan Ye performed for more than 10000 his audiences with 40 recitals in different countries and numerous cities.

Christine Wu has performed in concert venues throughout North America and Europe, including Lincoln Center and Merkin Hall, New York, the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater, Washington D.C., Benaroya Hall, Seattle, Teatro San Rocco, Seregno, Petit Palau de la Música Catalana, Barcelona, and Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris. Praised in the New York Times for her “arresting” playing, Christine Wu has received awards from international competitions including the Ettore Pozzoli International Piano Competition, Chautauqua Institute Piano Competition, Washington International Competition, American International Paderewski Piano Competition, and Oneppo Chamber Music Competition. She has performed as a solo and chamber musician in music festivals including the Tanglewood Music Center, Chautauqua Institute, Leipzig International Mendelssohn-Akademie, Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, Aspen, PianoTexas, and Bowdoin International Music Festivals. Christine Wu received degrees from the Juilliard School and Yale School of Music. Her major teachers have included: Peter Serkin, Christopher Elton, Peter Frankl, Hung-Kuan Chen, Choong-Mo Kang, and Julian Martin.

Meet our participants - Nikita Volov
It’s time to introduce our next participant of this year’s #itbcb – Nikita Volov.
Russian pianist Nikita Volov was born in 1992 in the city of Severodvinsk on the White Sea. He received his first piano lessons at the "Rimsky-Korsakov" Music School in Pskov. In 2006 he continued his musical education in the Central Music School for highly gifted children in Moscow. Since 2010 Nikita Volov studied at the Tchaikovsky State Conservatory in Moscow with Professor Eliso Virsaladze where he graduated with honors in the summer of 2015. In 2019 he completed his studies with Prof. Stefan Arnold at the "Hanns Eisler" Hochschule für Musik in Berlin with the concert exam. Both as a soloist and chamber musician Nikita Volov performs all over the world. His concert tours have taken him to Europe, Asia, England and the USA. He has played with conductors such as Teymur Goychayev, Igor Kazhdan, Boris Tewlin, Rauf Abdulaev, Aleksandr Titov and Christoph Adt. Moreover, Nikita Volov is the winner of the "DAAD Prize 2018", among others.

Meet our participants - Hin-Yat Tsang
Say hello to our next participant of this year’s #itbcb – Hin-Yat Tsang.
Hin-Yat Tsang studied at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the mentorship of Eleanor Wong. He is also both a Masters and Artist Diploma graduate from the Royal College of Music in London, where he studied with Russian pianist Dmitri Alexeev and also served as the Constant & Kit Lambert Junior Fellow. Among many international prizes, Hin-Yat is the winner of the Piano-Campus Award (Paris), Manchester Concerto and the Asian Chopin Competition (Tokyo). Hin-Yat is a top prizewinner and laureate at competitions, e.g. the Maria Canals (Barcelona), James Mottram (Manchester), Manhattan (New York), Gina Bachauer (Salt Lake City), Scottish (Glasgow) and Hong Kong International Competitions. His performance career has led him to some of Europe’s finest venues including the Wigmore Hall (London), Steinway Hall London, Laeiszhalle (Hamburg), Bechstein Centrum (Frankfurt), Curt-Sachs Saal of the Instruments Museum (Berlin), Warsaw Philharmonic (Warsaw), Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Casa de Música (Porto) among many others. Tsang is one of the young artists represented by both the Worshipful Company of Musicians as well as the Keyboard Charitable Trust in London. He currently resides in Germany and continues his studies at the Universität der Künste with Klaus Hellwig in Berlin.

A warm welcome to our next participant of this year’s #itbcb – Alexei Tartakovsky.
Called a “fantastic musician and pianist” by Martha Argerich and “truly exceptional…superb playing…a thoughtful and serious musician” by the New York Concert Review, pianist Alexei Tartakovsky is also laureate of Rolf and Brigitte Gardey International Piano Competition (USA), James Mottram International Piano Competition (UK), and won several prizes, e.g. the 1st prize at the Heida Hermanns International Piano Competition (USA) the 1st prize at the 2011 New York Concert Artists International Competition the 1st Prize, Audience Prize, and Russian Prize at the 2012 San Jose International Competition (USA). his concert activity brought him to the USA, Canada, Mexico, Russia, Europe, China, Japan to venues include Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Warsaw Philharmonic, Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall, Carnegie Hall. Recordings from him were broadcasted on Dutch Radio 4, Polish Radio 2, Russian Radio Orpheus and New York's WQXR. Alexei Tartakovsky was Semifinalist at the 2015 Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw and von the french Prize at the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition. He studied with Matti Raekallio, Nina Lelchuk, Boris Slutsky, Boris Berman, Horacio Gutierrez and Richard Goode.

Let’s introduce our next participant of this year’s #itbcb – Ryutaro Suzuki.
Ryutaro Suzuki was born in Japan in 1990. He moved to France in 2008 to study at the Conservatory of Paris (CNSMDP) under Bruno Rigutto and Hortence Cartier-Bresson. At the Conservatory of Paris, he also has assisted to the classes of Michel Béroff and M. Dalberto. Nowadays, he studies with Eliso Virsaladze at Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. He has already performed in several important festivals such as Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, Festival de Nohant or Festival Chopin in Paris. As a soloist, he performed with orchestras such as Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, National Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, Orchestra of the Conservatory of Paris, Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra and Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. He is also laureate of several international music competitions such as "Ile-de-France"(1st prize), "Gilels"(2nd prize) "Val Tidone"(2nd prize), "Ferrol"(Spanish music prize), ""Tbilisi""(Chopin prize) and also semifinalist of "Long-Thibaud" and "Enescu". He currently resides in Paris and performs throughout Europe, South America, as well as in Japan. His rich repertoire varies from Baroque to contemporary, which is shown in his discography as well; Scarlatti, Mozart, Ravel, Liszt for his first album (Claves records/LabelG, 2017).

Welcome to our next participant of this year’s #itbcb – Hans Suh.
Winner of the 2018 International German Piano Award and laureate of the 2016 Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, Hans Suh has performed as a soloist at Alte Oper Frankfurt, Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, Philharmonie Essen, and Seoul Arts Center. He performed with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatskapelle Halle, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonie Baden-Baden, and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, working with Kurt Masur, Ken-David Masur, Michael Adelson, Myung-Whun Chung, and Pascal Verrot. His other awards include successful performances at the Sendai International Music Competition in 2013, winning the 2nd prize, the Isang Yun International Music Competition 2016, winning the 1st Prize, the International Beethoven Competition Vienna 2017, winning the 4th Prize, the Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition 2018 winning the 2nd prize and the Viotti International Music Competition 2019, also winning the 2nd Prize. Hans began playing piano at age four, started composing at age five, and held his first solo recital at seven. After studying with Yuri Kim and Vladimir Feltsman at Mannes, Hans went onto study ancient history at Columbia University and piano with Emanuel Ax and Matti Raekallio at The Juilliard School. After finishing his Master of Music with Olivier Gardon, he now pursues Konzertexamen with Arie Vardi at Hochschule für Musik Theater und Medien Hannover.

Get to know our next participant of this year’s #itbcb – Hanna Schwalbe.
Hanna Schwalbe, born in 2001 in Hamburg, has been playing the piano and violin since the age of four. From 2015 to 2018 she studied at the Institut zur Früh-Förderung at the Musikhochschule Hannover in the classes of Prof. Dr. Elena Levit, Prof. Igor Chetuev and Prof. Christopher Oakden. Since fall 2018, after graduating from high school, she continues to study in Hanover with Prof. Christopher Oakden - since 2020 additionally with Prof. Bernd Goetzke. In 2017, she won a 1st prize with the highest score in the national competition Jugend musiziert, combined with a special prize from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben. The prize winner's concert was broadcast and released on CD. This was followed by a 2nd prize at the international Steinway Competition and 1st prize at the Bechstein Piano Competition. Furthermore, she participated in the Glocal Piano Project of the International Busoni Competition in 2020. As a soloist, she has already given concerts at the Laeiszhalle and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, among others. She received further musical inspiration from Prof. Piotr Paleczny, Olivier Gardon and Prof. Catherine Vickers.
