The Berlin Ribbon And Tape Club is run by a collective of music producers from the Radio Transmission Studios in Berlin with a passion for real music and real recordings. Recording live music directly onto 1 inch tape via a 16 track reel to reel tape machine, the aim of the club is to create genuine sounding classic recordings using purely vintage and analogue outboard preamps, compressors, microp
hones and instruments. In a world where every second digital device is shipped with some kind of music making software and every bedroom studio setup has access to such powerful audio processing technology that anyone can produce slick and professional sounding recordings, we believe that something is getting lost along the way. Too much mediocre music is being made with the highest production standards and clever effects trickery, so much so that the real talent is getting lost in this flood of muzak. We aim to create recordings of genuine performances by real musicians, which haven't been edited and tweaked until every note is pitch and rhythm perfect. We want recordings to sound real and we want to hear the uniqueness of each take and the magic of each individual performance and we want to make recordings that have an identity and a character and that stand alone.
