NowHere Media is an award-winning studio in Berlin crafting virtual and augmented experiences that enable audiences to view contemporary issues through a critical lens. We work with nonprofits, media organisations and brand partners to create impactful stories that inspire and engage global audiences. ights, conflict, social justice and environment. From covering war in Syria to chasing snow leopards in the Himalayas, we’re trained for productions in hostile and challenging environments. Founders Felix Gaedtke and Gayatri Parameswaran have backgrounds in journalism and believe in the power of stories to transform. As a boutique studio we value quality over quantity, and understand diversity in all its forms to be an asset. For each project, we carefully curate teams to meet specific needs for immersive design -- photogrammetry, volumetric capture, animation or multisensory installations. On Knowledge Sharing:
We care about furthering the art of immersive storytelling by empowering up and coming XR creators. That's why Felix and Gayatri regularly take up speaking and mentoring engagements for conferences, workshops and other events. Most recent examples include talks for TEDx, Women Deliver, and mentoring at Neue deutsche Medienmacher*innen and the Off-Piste Virtual Reality Storytelling Lab. We also lead an Immersive Storytelling module for the MA in Visual Anthropology course at HMKW.

This week marked the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Now more than ever, it is critical to combat misinformation and amplify Ukrainian voices. Stories from Ukraine must be heard, and we remain committed to giving them space.

Today, we would like to share images we captured while filming our 360-degree documentary, "You Destroy. We Create.", which earned our studio an Emmy nomination and a Peabody Award.

Our thoughts remain with our friends and colleagues in Ukraine during this somber time. Together, we stand in solidarity with Ukraine. 🇺🇦

A few years ago, we had the incredible privilege of documenting the language revitalisation efforts of the Kusunda indigenous community in Nepal. Their stories highlighted the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage. When a language is lost, it’s more than words disappearing—it’s a piece of our shared cultural and global diversity.

That’s why we’re thrilled to be part of **REVIVE**, a Horizon Europe project preserving endangered languages and cultural heritage.

Led by ARU’s StoryLab Research Institute, **REVIVE** (Community-centred language REVItalisation powered by heritage-led storytelling and digital innoVation in Europe) uses immersive technologies and storytelling to preserve and celebrate linguistic heritage and to develop **REVIVE(S)**—an EU-first platform featuring an online archive, XR narratives, and interactive community exhibitions.

We’re thrilled to be part of this initiative and can’t wait to share it with the world, stay tuned!

Happy 2025! But before we dive straight into it, here’s a moment to appreciate everything from 2024. What a year it was. From major wins to bold new projects, 2024 has kept us busy, inspired and driven to create!

In 2024 we were honoured to win the prestigious Peabody Award for “You Destroy. We Create | The War on Ukraine’s Culture,” which was a huge milestone for us. We also embarked on our first research trip to Ladakh, premiered our co-production Ancestral Secret VR and launched exciting new collaborations such as Dark Rooms and the heritage-focused REVIVE project.

It has been a whirlwind of creativity, connection and storytelling - we can’t wait to see what comes next! 🚀

The VR premiere of Ancestral Secret is just around the corner! Ahead of its debut at IDFA DocLab 2024 next week, we’re inviting you behind the scenes to see how this immersive project came to life.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve introduced some of the incredible people behind the project, sharing insights into their creative process. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on Moritz Mayerhofer, our talented art director, whose vision and artistry brought the vibrant, immersive visuals of Ancestral Secret to life.

While working on our mixed reality project about the coexistence of snow leopards and humans in Ladakh, we’ve come to appreciate just how vital these majestic creatures are to the local culture and environment. Today, on International Snow Leopard Day, we want to pay tribute to these elusive spirits of the trans-Himalayan region.

Snow leopards are among the most mysterious and magnificent creatures on Earth. With their smoky grey fur, they’ve mastered the art of camouflage, blending seamlessly into the rugged mountain terrain. These incredible big cats can leap up to 15 metres in a single bound (!) and thrive at altitudes of up to 5,200 metres, enduring freezing temperatures and harsh weather. ❄️

Unfortunately, snow leopards are a vulnerable species, threatened by habitat loss and poaching. With only 3,920 to 6,390 left in the wild, we need to act now to protect them before it’s too late!

On our journey making a documentary about these fascinating creatures we’re proud to be working with the Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust, who are on the ground in Ladakh educating communities about holistic conservation. We’re also delighted to announce that our project, Living with the Snow Leopards (working title), is gaining momentum! We’re currently working on the script and vertical slice and start preparation for our next trip to Ladakh early next year. Adrian Meyer () Ancestral Secret VR’s 360 stitching artist, worked tirelessly to merge individual video feeds into seamless, panoramic worlds that envelop the viewer from every angle.

Last week we had the pleasure of participating in the eCommemoration Convention 2024 - an international, interdisciplinary event in Hamburg that explored how history and remembrance are represented through new media and digital art. As part of the programme, we presented our VR documentary Kusunda, which explores the memory of language and its deep connection to identity.

We’re grateful to have been part of this event and are always excited to share our work with different audiences. We regularly collaborate with universities and events to bring our projects to new audiences. If you’re interested in showcasing our work, please get in touch - we’d love to help spread these important stories even further!

VR projects are a collaborative effort, with each contributor bringing a specific skill set and unique flair to the table.

We’ve asked a few of our partners and collaborators to share their experiences working on creating Ancestral Secret VR. Over the next few weeks we’ll be sharing the challenges, lessons learned, and experiences from all these contributors.

The first entry comes from Billy Mello, who was responsible for Original Music & Sound Design of the experience.

Sound is the invisible thread that binds the VR experience together, guiding emotions and enhancing the storytelling journey. For Ancestral Secret VR, Billy Maestro brought the landscapes to life, weaving in ambient sounds, traditional music, and immersive audio elements that transport you right into the heart of the story.

We may have been quieter on social media this summer, but behind the scenes, there’s been a lot happening! Here are some highlights from our action-packed season:

First up, we kick-started our co-production with Morph and NAXS FUTURE, Dark Rooms! 🎬 Last month, the German and Danish teams gathered at Babelsberg’s Volucap studio to capture the protagonists’ journeys into their sexuality. There’s so much happening behind the scenes, and trust us—one post won’t cover it all! Stay tuned for more updates coming your way soon. Speaking of Dark Rooms, we’re still looking for participants. If you and your partner have transitioned into a polyamorous relationship, or if you know someone who has and is open to sharing their story, slide into our DMs for more details.

In other big news, our co-production with Galgo Storytelling, Ancestral Secret VR, celebrated its national premiere at the Sanfic XR Festival in Chile! From August 19th to 23rd, Chilean audiences experienced the breathtaking landscapes of the Q’ero Nation as they shared their worldview and ancient knowledge. We’re thrilled to see how this project resonates with audiences in its country of origin and can’t wait for you to experience it on other continents!

During the same festival, as part of the international selection, we showcased You Destroy. We Create | The War on Ukraine’s Culture for the first time in Chile! We’re pleased to see that interest in this piece remains strong. CASTING CALL

Bedside Productions is looking for a couple who has experience related to opening up their relationship for DARK ROOMS, an upcoming Virtual Reality-documentary produced by MORPH, exploring the unknown, psychology, love and sexuality through personal stories told in an interactive and immersive setting - accessing the hidden chambers of the mind.

We want to hear about the challenges, joys and reflections related to the process of opening up a relationship, and how it has evolved you as a person/couple.
Individuals & couples of all ages, sizes and levels of experience are welcome to submit.
The selected stories will be unfolded in a co-creative process with the utmost respect for the individuals and the communities involved.

„You Destroy. We Create” and „Berlin 2037” are currently showing in THE PORTAL exhibition at re:publica 2024, open to all festival ticket holders.
And, guess who was in the audience yesterday? Berlin’s Senator Franziska Giffey ( ), State Secretary Daniela Kluckert (), and Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (.cdu)!

Wait… there’s more! We’re also part of a B2B program at XR PORT Berlin, which connects local producers from Berlin and Brandenburg with international decision-makers. Our ongoing mixed reality experience „Living with the Snow Leopards,” was honoured with the XRPB DEVELOPMENT AWARD for XR PORT BERLIN B2B!

Coming from a journalism background, being nominated for an award that celebrates media narratives defending the public interest, encouraging empathy, and fostering a deeper understanding of today’s world is the ultimate recognition of our efforts.
