Ad I Berlin celebrates 35 years of the fall of the Wall along the former border with Berlin’s largest band

35 years ago, courageous people brought down the Berlin Wall and shortly afterwards the SED dictatorship. To commemorate this significant historical event, Berlin will be transformed into a stage of remembrance and encounters on November 8 and 9 with an impressive 4km-long open-air installation, exhibitions, a diverse program and the highlight of the anniversary: the Festival for Freedom.

The Festival for Freedom with Berlin’s biggest band will take place on November 9 at 8 pm, with DJ sets starting at 7 pm. Almost 700 musicians have been preparing for this event for weeks. On November 9, they will come together on the former Wall strip - spread over five locations along the open-air installation - and play the soundtrack of freedom in sync with songs from Silly to Bowie, from Patti Smith to Westernhagen. The entire route along the open-air installation will become a stage and everyone is invited to sing along and celebrate freedom and democracy together.

During the day on November 9, from 12 noon to 7 pm, there will be a varied and entertaining program at 5 locations along the installation, from readings, talks and concerts to hands-on activities and much more, including the Berlin Pub Choir, Sebastian Krumbiegel, Romano, Bonaparte, the East Fluencer Olivia Schneider and the podcast “Grenzgänger - Die Geschichte des Berlin-Sounds”.
