For the artist formerly known as Lafawndah, the drum is the most haunting instrument on earth. “It’s the bones. It’s the first one we ever played.” As her newest incarnation, KUKII (), her sound is all skin and bones too—stripped down, yet layered, never shying from the bloody or raw.⁠

This compilation, curated for INDIE’s AW24 issue, pays homage to the artists who’ve inspired KUKII’s debut, Rare Baby. “It’s an attempt to draw my genealogy tree, not going all the way to the roots—not the fathers and mothers—but more like the branches, the leaves, the siblings, cousins & uncles. People I either met, made music with, discovered at a show, or on a late night cab drive.”⁠

Anna Zimmermann’s Berlin studio is a functional space, filled with materials she’s working with—a vintage chair reimagined in zebra print, and canvases in various stages of completion. Her expressive work is less about a singular vision, and more about spontaneous experimentation. This pragmatic yet open-ended attitude is why INDIE finds itself in her studio, as part of a collaboration with ’s AW24 Studio Collection (launching 26th September), ’s work offering a glimpse into the creative forces that inspire it.⁠
