🎬 Behind the Scenes Spotlight 🎥

We're excited to give you a sneak peek into our recent project, where we had the pleasure of teaming up with the amazing director Susanna Kosa from SayMahalo and the brilliant producer Arthur Baum on a commercial for Bowers & Wilkins and BMW.

Utilizing cutting-edge technology in full-body motion capture, including face capture, and finger tracking by , alongside our live preview capabilities, we were able to bring some serious magic to the screen. And of course, a shoutout to our talented performer, Varvara Kanellakopoulos, who absolutely crushed it! 🙌

What set this project apart?

Our in-engine recording workflow, which allowed for seamless parallel work. Our clients could stage their scenes using recorded blockouts while we prepared for animation post-production, maximizing efficiency.

But let's not forget the most important part – the fun we had! Collaboration with Susanna, Arthur, and videographer David Nassim was an absolute delight. We truly appreciated the opportunity to work alongside such creative minds!

Our recent motion capture shoot for the "Terra X" documentary was a truly unique experience. Over two intense days, our studio buzzed with creativity as we embarked on this fascinating project.

With six skilled performers, we meticulously captured every detail, from facial expressions to delicate finger movements, thanks to our advanced motion capture technology.

This endeavor was made possible through the collaborative efforts of South & Browse and HansaCloud. Together, we combined storytelling expertise with state-of-the-art technology to bring this captivating narrative to life.

Celebrating over 6 million views! 🎉📺

We're thrilled to announce that the groundbreaking documentary series 'Geständnisse eines Neonazis' which we worked on with @‌sendefähig has reached a milestone with over 6 million views and counting!

This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering dedication and hard work of Dennis Leiffel and his exceptional team at sendefähig. Over the course of two years, they poured their hearts and souls into bringing this powerful story to the screen, and we are immensely grateful for their partnership.

We also want to express our gratitude to ZDF for believing in the potential of this new technology and supporting us throughout this journey. Their trust allowed us to push the boundaries of what's possible in the documentary genre.

In just three months, we brought the CG scenes for this series to life, showcasing the true potential of virtual production for the TV industry. With real-time virtual production pipelines, we shattered previous limitations and delivered hours of cutting-edge material in record time.

🎥 Beyond the Capture: Refining Animations

Motion capture has revolutionized animation, creating astonishingly realistic character movements. But there's more to it than meets the eye! Here are the essential steps to perfect your animations:

🔍 Step 1: Data Cleaning - Let's eliminate imperfections! 🔍

We start by ironing out glitches and errors in the marker data, ensuring a solid foundation for top-notch quality.

🎯 Step 2: Solving/Retargeting - Bringing characters to life! 🎯

Matching the captured motion to the character is key. We adjust the movements to fit their unique proportions, resulting in seamless and natural animation.

✨ Step 3: Motion Editing - Adding the special sauce! ✨

Here's where the magic happens! We refine and enhance the captured movements through:

Technical Fixes: Addressing floor contacts, mesh intersections, and noise reduction for visually pleasing and physically accurate animation.

Artistic Changes: Enhancing finger and face animation, prop interactions, and overall fluidity and expressiveness.

Editorial Changes: Tailoring animations to their purpose, be it a game, film, or virtual reality experience.

CGI storytelling in record time - what virtual production is capable of

We're proud to have worked with Sendefähig GmbH on the ground-breaking documentary series, 'Geständnisse eines Neonazis'. Using the 'Unreal Engine 5' engine we built the immersive virtual worlds and personas with incredible detail and realism, enhancing the viewing experience.

But what makes this project so special?

Previously, CGI generally has only be used for snippets and very specific purposes for TV productions, due to tight production schedules and budgets. With new real-time virtual production pipelines and “in engine capture” it’s possible to create footage in a fraction of time and cost.

The production of the CGI content for this documentary series was done in a remarkably short time frame of just three months. It features live-recorded material, mostly unpolished, and it showcases the true potential of virtual production for the TV industry, not just for movies and games. We've shown that it's possible to produce hours of cut material for a TV documentary in record time.

A big thank you at this point to Dennis Leiffels for the immense effort to create such a great documentary on such a important topic!

Former far-right member 'Michael' shares shocking insights about the militant neo-Nazi scene. To protect his identity, our studio has created a virtual persona with incredible detail and realism.

An actor lends his facial expressions to the avatar, and a voice actor lends his voice. The result is that the animated source can be interviewed in a recreated setting and virtually takes viewers to the locations of his "neo-Nazi confessions.
