Someone else's ears might be waiting for just the right moment to hear your story and be filled with hope or inspired to smile. I'm Dr. Maureen Atemkeng; I'm just trying to live my life as a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, scientist, disability activist, and advocate for people with disabilities. After being in a car accident, I suffered a spinal cord injury that left me partially paralyzed

(paraplegia). There was never a time when I stopped believing in myself or my abilities. I use a wheelchair and have been through marriage, motherhood, doctoral studies, international travel, and various jobs; now it's time for me to tell my story in my own words. If you happen to find one of my photos or videos and find it inspiring, motivating, or educational, then you have my sincere gratitude.

I'm deeply thankful for the unwavering support and love of my family and friends, who have enriched my journey.
