From the platform of the south tower at a height of around 100 meters, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city center, the Rhine and the Cologne area. To do this, 533 steps have to be climbed: First, a spiral staircase leads up to almost 75 meters, and the last few meters up to the viewing platform are climbed via a metal staircase. ↗️

Did you know that when you buy one of our packages, you get a free annual membership to ZDV? This allows you, among other things, one free tower climb per year! 🥳

Meet Abel, a towering figure of 2 meters in height, immortalized in stone on the Cologne Cathedral. Crafted by the talented cathedral sculptor Peter Fuchs in the 1870s, this portrait captures the essence of Abel, a key figure in the second generation of humankind. 👏✨

Abel, the son of Adam and Eve, holds a significant place in biblical history. He was known for his righteousness and his offerings to God, which were favored over those of his brother, Cain. Tragically, Abel's life was cut short when he was slain by Cain, a story that echoes the themes of jealousy and the first act of fratricide!

The statue of Abel on the Cologne Cathedral is not just a piece of art; it’s a tribute to his legacy and the moral lessons his story imparts. Fuchs’s craftsmanship ensures that Abel’s figure stands tall, both in physical form and in the annals of history, reminding visitors of the deep roots of human morality and faith.😄

By acquiring an NFT of Abel's statue, you not only own a piece of this incredible art but also support the preservation of the Cologne Cathedral.

JOIN US in celebrating this remarkable figure and the timeless stories etched in the stones of the Cathedral.

Did you know...? 🤔
The Cologne Cathedral is actually taller than the Great Pyramid of Giza! 🏰📏

While the Great Pyramid stands at an impressive 139 meters, the Cologne Cathedral reaches a soaring 157 meters! That's like stacking an extra house on top of the Pyramid! 🏡(swipe to see the house on top!! 😂)

And here’s a funny detail: If you tried to fit the entire Statue of Liberty (93 meters) inside the Cologne Cathedral, you'd still have room left for a rooftop garden! 🌿😄

Spoiler: Our Cathedral stands tall and proud, aslong as we support and invest to help preserve it! 😄✨

Did you know that the Cologne Cathedral has 12 different bells, including the St. Peter’s bell?
They are named after saints and biblical figures. In addition to the St. Peter’s Bell, there are others such as the Mary Bell, the Stephen Bell and the Joseph Bell. Each has its own significance and is rung for various occasions – from daily prayer times to festive celebrations.
Other bells include the Pretiosa, the Speciosa, the Three Kings Bell, the Ursula Bell, the Chapter Bell, the Ave Bell, the Angelus Bell, the Mett Bell, and the Consecration Bell.

Can you guess which one is the heaviest?
