VEIL OF LIGHT

Zurich-based outfit Veil Of Light are best known for their FM new wave, synthpop tones and suburban cool synths. Founded in 2012 they have a huge history ranging from their early mysterious shoegaze-tinged post-punk and coldwave sound to harder and pounding electro/body music culminating in their latest offerings «Sundancing» and «Hymns Of Faith And Trust». Best described as pure synthpop bliss and probably their best and most elaborated outings yet.

emerges from the fusion sounds of the cityscapes Verona and Berlin, melding the raw, analogue synth tones of early minimal noise with the relentless rhythms of early EBM. This project serves as a meditation on contrasts, where minimalist aesthetics intersect with stark, high-contrast visuals, and impassioned lyrics weave together dadaistic and political themes. RUHR sculpts a realm where sound becomes a potent force for expression and defiance, conjuring a vision of sensuality entwined with industrial resonance—a rhythmic pulse of rebellion and social upheaval. The repetitive structures in their music summon a primal dance, resonating with the spirit of unrest and the yearning for change.

The US-trio FUTURE NOBODIES from Chicago are releasing their debut album on YOUNG & COLD RECORDS with a self-titled album. The band’s self-description „we make sad happy music to dance to“ sums it up pretty well. Discogs mentions genres such as Dreampop, Gothrock, New Wave and Indie, but in the end it can be summed up as Postpunk, which on the one hand fits well into the ongoing trend. On the other hand, however, it relies less on the usual gloom and instead conveys a positive overall mood.

IVUR,

which is short for „Infraviolet Ultrared“, is an Austrian-Hungarian electronic project based in the Vienna area.

The founding member, veteran underground DJ Mr.URNs, who hast kept dancefloors busy for the last 25 years decided to switch sides and release his own music. Having spent some time writing songs and doing collaborations with artists like „Laut Fragen“ and „Tilly Electronics“, the pandemic gave him the last nudge to get it all in a release-ready state.

IVUR is blending the genres that he plays as a DJ to create a highly danceable melange of Darkwave, Synthpop and Italo Disco that is rounded by his distinctive vocals.

Intended to be a studio project at first, the decision to play live brought a change in the line-up. Multi-Instrumentalist FKV, who has been playing live-shows for many years and is also one half of the viennese Darkwave duo „Touch by Touch“, joined on keyboards and propelled the genereal live setup.

As this worked out really well, they decided that FKV should also be involved in the songwriting process and the solo project became a duo.

SIXTH JUNE,

the Serbian duo that has been working from Berlin for many years, has gathered a fan base since their first album in 2010, and even longer breaks have not stopped them from staying loyal.

With their fifth album “Stay”, SIXTH JUNE has now signed to YOUNG & COLD RECORDS, which should guarantee success for both sides. After a few advance-tracks, “Stay” will make old fans happy and especially attract many new fans.

The basic direction of SIXTH JUNE has remained the same... their mixture of Electro-Wave, Minimal-Synth and intense 80s atmospheres is both, profound and catchy. Overall, there is an (even) more melancholic atmosphere this time, which is often strongly reminiscent of the less experimental stuff of Kirlian Camera from the 80s (“Blue Room”, “Heldenplatz”...).

“Dance With Me” and “Sanjam” open the album in the usual way, with the former song also being suitable for the dancefloors of clubs, especially in the early hours of the morning when the party is slowly winding down. “Stay” combines electronic elements with light Neofolk-overtones and puts the listener in an almost hypnotic mood. “Take Care” seems lighter and could almost be a lost Valerie-Dore B-side, as unlikely as that may sound.

“Dream Again” then leads more into the second half of the 80s and is a little more solemn, which is reinforced by the use of a saxophone. Finally, “Collapse” is the anthem for the sunrise on the beach after a night of partying and will certainly become a fan favorite at concerts.

With “Stay”, SIXTH JUNE catapult themselves another big step forward. Catchy Electro-Wave that can also make an impression beyond the scene. Wonderfully produced songs that immediately stick in your head, but are never superficial. “Stay” could go from being an insider tip to one of the “albums of the year”.

Yesterday, Yakima Jera were playing at the festival in Munich. It was great to see the two of you again!
DJ Neon Force and DJ Serenity played DJ sets at the aftershow party.
It was a wonderful festival and we got to meet many lovely people! Thank you for having us, support Yakima Jera, and dancing to our sets!

SKELESYS

Wrapped in shadows and fueled by distortion, Skelesys channels the pain and beauty of the human experience through his guitar strings, painting a sonic landscape of haunting melodies and raw emotion.
The Argentina-born, Berlin-based producer, DJ and live act has emerged as one of the most exciting projects across post-punk, wave and future sounds. Inspired by everything from hard rock, sci-fi and horror, his music traverses several genres resulting in a fresh, unique sound that is all his own. After releasing great material on labels like Eskimo Recordings, Ombra INTL and Snap Crackle & Pop, his latest EP, Epsilon (Oraculo Records), quickly sold out on vinyl selected on the prestigious Post Punk Online blog as one of the best releases of 2022. Primarily a live artist, he incorporates guitar with electronics and vocals on stage, while also being an electrifying DJ, delivering sets featuring all things under the umbrella of 80s influenced dark sounds. Since arriving in Berlin, he’s played at some of the best parties and clubs around Europe including Kantine Am Berghain (Berlin), Grauzone Festival (The Hague), La Culottée La Station Gare des Mines (Paris), Ombra Festival (Barcelona), La Station – Gare des Mines (Paris),Kablys (Vilnius), Tank (Bologna), Tempio del Futuro Perduto (Milan), IBOAT (Bordeaux), Kupolas (Nida) and collaborating with artists like Curses and Zanias both in studio and live.
