After Osinachi’s Death, Neighbours Speak on Late Gospel Singer’s Marital Woes

The death of gospel artist Osinachi Nwachukwu, who allegedly died as a result of domestic violence continues to generate reactions
Neighbours of the Nwachukwus have confirmed that the late gospel artiste went through hell in the hands of her husband
Already, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the arrest of Osinachi's husband over the allegations of serial beating
FCT, Abuja - Since the demise of Osinachi Nwachukwu, the gospel singer known for her collaborative hit track ‘Ekwueme’, there have been allegations that the singer was a victim of domestic violence.

Speaking on the controversy surrounding Osinachi’s death, Mama Sarah, the house help of the family told The Cable newspaper that she has been working for the family for close to a year, but only visits the house three times a week to help with chores.

Mama Sarah said whenever she notices the couple quarrelling, Osinachi would dress up, leave the house and go to the church.


One of the neighbours, however, told the newspaper that she always hears Osinachi screaming and her husband addressing her with derogatory words.

She said their squabbles were constant, such that she worried if the husband was actually a pastor as he claimed to be.

Another neighbour, from whom Osinachi buys stockfish, said the few times she saw and conversed with her, the singer always looked “depressed, tensed and scared.”

Musa, a gateman in the building behind Osinachi’s house, said the couple often fought, and that on several occasions, he had to scale the fence of the house to unlock the gate for the singer, whenever her husband locks her out.

His words:

“Before the woman died, they fought a lot and even at night I hear them quarrel. I don’t know if he [the husband] does not like her going out but if the woman goes out, he will lock the gate and refuse to open the gate when she comes back.
“She will come and call me to help her climb the fence and unlock the gate for her. And once she enters, the man will start making trouble again.”

In a related development, the police public relations officer in the Federal Capital Territory, DSP Josephine Adeh, has confirmed the arrest of Nwachukwu, the late singer's husband saying:

“The man, Peter Nwachukwu is currently in our custody. A family member of the deceased lodged a report at Lugbe police station.
“Following the complaint, we arrested the suspect and the investigation is currently ongoing. We will make findings public.”
Federal govt vows to ensure late Osinachi gets justice
Meanwhile, the federal government has vowed that Late Osinachi will get justice even in death.

Minister of women affairs Dame Pauline Tallen said this in a statement she personally signed and seen by Legit.ng on Monday, April 11.

Dame Tallen said Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late popular gospel artiste, will be prosecuted.

Tragedy struck earlier today as seven passengers including two girls were killed in a fatal road accident along the Ogbomosho-Ilorin expressway in Kwara State.

The fatal accident, which occurred around 3 on Sunday left 21 other people seriously injured.

It was gathered that the 18-seater white Mazda bus with registration number ZUR 159 XJ was heading to Lagos when its tyre burst in Ote Village, Asa Local Government Area of the state due to overloading hence causing the accident.


Confirming the incident, the Kwara Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Jonathan Owoade, said both the injured persons and dead bodies had been taken to Ilorin General Hospital and Garin Alimi Hospital.

“The accident involves an 18-seater bus and should have been carrying 14 passengers at most because of covid-19 restrictions. But we have 18 persons on board including children. This is why we have consistently warned about overloading and over-speeding,” he added.
He thanked the state ministry of health for providing additional ambulances during the rescue process.

Their suspension came after a crucial meeting of the State Executive Council (EXCO) on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended two high-profile leaders of the party, Chris Uba and Linus Ukachukwu, for attempting to destroy the party, among many allegations.

Their suspension came after a crucial meeting of the State Executive Council (EXCO) on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Uba and his loyalists had in 2021 defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the November 2021 governorship election in Anambra State.


Uba’s loyalists under the Sir Chukwudi Umeaba-led former Caretaker Committee of the PDP in the state, had, on Friday, October 22, 2021, shortly after the Supreme Court affirmed Mr. Valentine Ozigbo as the candidate of the PDP in November 6, 2021, Anambra state governorship election, defected to the APC.

Uba’s elder brother, Senator Andy Uba was a candidate in the election.

Chris Uba had sponsored a parallel PDP primary for the governorship poll using the Umeaba structure with his eldest brother, Senator Ugochukwu Uba, emerging as a PDP governorship candidate.

But the Supreme Court affirmed Valentine Ozigbo as the authentic candidate of the PDP, not Senator Ugochukwu Uba on the basis that the primary that produced him was the one approved by the national leadership of the PDP.

According to a letter written to the National Chairman of PDP, Dr Iyorcha Ayu, and signed by the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Okey Asolo and the Publicity Secretary, Nnamdi Nwangwu, the party took the decision to secure its future and reputation.

It accused Uba and Ukachukwu of engaging in anti-party activities, abuse of privileges and causing “unimaginable damages to the electoral fortunes and stability of our great party”.


The letter titled ‘Suspension of Chief Chris Uba and Chief Linus Ukachukwu from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Anambra State Chapter’ was obtained by SaharaReporters on Sunday.

The letter read, “Arising from our Executive Committee meeting held on 2nd day of April, 2022 at the Party Secretariat, Udoka Housing Estate, Awka and having thoroughly ex-rayed the problems of the Party and activities in respect of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

“On further evaluation of the Party's electoral misfortunes in recent part vis-a-vis the anti-party activities, abuse of privileges of the above party members, who had previously caused unimaginable damages to the electoral fortunes and stability of our great Party.

“Having satisfied that these characters are hell-bent on destroying the Party further by conspiring to turn the Party into the agent of the ruling governments through a very wicked and crooked manner.

“Having considered that this was how they scuttled the chances of our great Party (PDP) in the 2017 Governorship election, 2019 general elections where PDP failed woefully in the Senatorial and other elections in the constituencies where the above dramatis personae come from and most recently the 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra State where they created factions within the Party and eventually produced a parallel governorship candidate and instituted several court actions against the Party in flagrant neglect of the Party's Constitutional provisions.

“Interestingly, as the 2023 general elections draw closer, these dramatis personae are at it again as they presently work in concert with other political parties to ensure that PDP goes into extinction in Anambra State as evidenced in their recent court actions.

“The consequence of the above negative intents is that if they are allowed, PDP may not field candidates in the 2023 general elections as they have vowed to accomplish. And to forestall their evil plans and that of their agents, the Executive Committee of Anambra State PDP in our meeting 2nd day of April, 2022 resolved to wit; 1) That the Peoples Democratic Party is a dominant political party in Anambra State and therefore cannot be left at the wimps and caprices of few individuals.

“2) Considering the fact that if the activities of these political merchants are not tackled headlong and appropriate sanction meted out as enshrined in the Constitution of our great Party PDP, these people will continue to have their way in holding the Anambra State chapter of PDP hostage.

“3) That pursuant to sections 58(1) a-m and 59 of the Constitution of PDP 2017 as amended, Chief Christian Uba and Chief Linus Ukachukwu are hereby suspended from the Party PDP Anambra State for a period of 30-days with effect from 2nd day of April 2022.

“Finally, consequent on the above Executive Committee resolution, both Chief Chris Uba and Chief Linus Ukachukwu will be referred to the Disciplinary Committee for further investigations and all necessary actions.”

Party chieftains copied in the letter included its National Vice-Chairman, South-East; National Auditor; former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi; Senator Ben Ndi-Obi; and Chief Maxwell Okudoh.

Others are Chief Barr. Mrs. Josephine Anenih; Chief Lady Chidiebele Mofus; Prof. ABC Nwosu; Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife; Hon. Chukwuka Onyema; Hon. Obinna Chidoka; Hon. Chinedu Onwuasor and Chief Valentine Ozigbo.

I Lured Him Into The Bush, Tied His Hands And Forcefully Removed His Eye— 17-Year-Old Boy Confesses

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy identified as Hassan Isah for allegedly removing the right eye of another boy in his area. The spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, Abdullahi Haruna kiyawa stated that the suspect was arrested following a complaint by some people who found the victim crying by the roadside after the incident.


It was gathered that Isah carried out the heinous act after a 100-year-old woman in his neighbourhood asked him to bring a human eye for ritual purposes. The woman identified as Furera Abubakar instructed him to bring the eye and a sum of N500 to make a charm that will make him disappear.

While being interrogated, Isah stated that he lured the victim into a nearby bush where he forcefully plucked his eye using a sharp knife.

The Commissioner of Police has ordered that case has been transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation. The suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The latest battle is part of a renewed war of supremacy between the deadly sects.
At least 50 fighters of the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP), have been killed in an ambush by its affiliates, Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihad faction of Boko Haram in the North East of Lake Chad, Borno State.

The latest battle is part of a renewed war of supremacy between the deadly sects.

The rival groups have been attacking communities in the North-East region since both camps fell apart over leadership issues.


The groups have also since been having clashes, and Abubakar Shekau, leader of Boko Haram, was reportedly killed during one of such clashes in 2021.

The latest incident sources said, happened when Boko Haram fighters laid an ambush for ISWAP fighters in the Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.

This was said to have led to a gun battle between the two groups.

The Boko Haram fighters led by Mohammed Ari were said to have overpowered those of ISWAP, killing about 50 of them.

Their bodies were also shown in a trending video as they were being slaughtered and dumped inside makeshift graves around the Lake Chad axis.

Some ISWAP insurgents were also burnt inside their gun trucks.

Woman Used Her Private Part To Trap Lagos Robber During Operation

Oluchi Ukonu, a woman, has successfully utilized her private parts to apprehend one of the robbers, Chika Ebelugwu, whose gang broke into their home late at night during an operation in Lagos State.

The robbery occurred on Akeem Lawal Street, off Imude Road, in the Shibiri district of Lagos, according to P.M.EXPRESS.

The thieves allegedly entered into the residence with arms on March 5, 2022, and began hauling away property found in the house, including a laptop, phone, and other valuables belonging to Emeka Ukonu, according to the police.


One of the robbers snatched Oluchi's phone when they entered her room, while the suspect, Ebelugwu, was engaged inappropriately caressing her private parts.

She made it comfortable for him out of fear, and he had no idea when the other robbers left, and he was caught in the process.

He was subsequently given over to the Ilembe Hausa Division Police for questioning, where he admitted to being stuck by the victim's private parts and that he had no idea when his other gang members left during the operation.

The police found him guilty and charged him with conspiracy, stealing, and attempted r**e before the Ojo Magistrates Court.

He pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned.

Inspector Ekpo Edet, the prosecutor, then asked the court to set a date for a hearing so that the police could prove that he had committed the claimed crime.

Mr. T. A. Popoola, the Presiding Magistrate, granted him bail of N500,000 with 2 sureties in the same amount.

He was remanded in detention at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until his bail conditions were met, and the case was adjourned until April 23, 2022.

FG Sends Strong Message To All Nigerians Over Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack.

The Minister of Transportation, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, has asked Nigerians to contribute to the cost of treating those affected in Monday’s train attack.

At least nine people were killed while many sustained injuries when bandits attacked a train heading for Kaduna from Abuja.

Speaking when he visited the victims who are being treated at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna on Wednesday, Amaechi said the army treated them without charging a dime.


However, he said some of the patients need drugs that are not manufactured in the country, asking Nigerians to assist in raising the money

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged Nigerians to unite against terrorists, bandits and saboteurs.

MURIC said this while reacting to the latest bandits’ attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by its director and founder, Professor Ishaq Akintola, the Islamic group urged security agencies to be more proactive amid the latest bandits’ attack.

DAILY POST gathered that the bandits detonated a bomb on the rail track of the Abuja-Kaduna train and successfully immobilized it at a point between Katari and Rijana.

It was also gathered that the bandits surrounded the train, shooting sporadically.

The terrorists also kidnapped many passengers, while some others were injured during the incident.

“Bandits attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train yesterday Monday, 28th March 2022. The attack led to the killing and abduction of some passengers. We strongly condemn this attack. It was mindless, vicious, brutal and barbaric. This is also major evidence of the extent to which unscrupulous elements can sabotage the good efforts of the government to provide comfort for the citizens,” MURIC’s statement read in part.

“With hindsight, the latest attack may not have been too surprising, particularly with the ominous signs presented by previous activities of bandits in the zone. It is obvious that Kaduna Airport was attacked last week because the bandits had become desperate since they could not find enough victims on the roads.

“Our security agencies should be more proactive. Intelligence Transport Systems (ITS) should be used in all our transportation networks starting with the modern railway line and critical national routes of our roads. They should all be linked with control rooms of the security agencies.

“We call on Nigerians to look beyond this mindless attack. It’s the work of saboteurs, rebellious subjects and enemies of peace. Rather, we must unite against those who seek to destroy our fragile civilization and our nascent democracy.”

Married Man Caught Red-handed With Side Chick Disgreced By Wife

There was pandemonium in Machinjiri Township in Blantyre after a married man was caught red-handed boonking a side chick. The man told his wife that he was going to buy meat at Manda ambuzi, Makhetha in the same township so that they could eat but in reality the man was going to spend some time with his girlfriend at Mkwepu village near old police unit, Makhetha.

Unfortunately, he was seen by the wife’s friend who later tipped her. The wife, with anger in her heart took a knife to kill the girlfriend since this has been going on for over 5 years but she had no opportunity like this one to deal with the MG2.

At exactly 8 PM, the woman arrived at the girlfriend’s house and the door open. Without hesitation she entered the house and found her husband on top of MG2. Upon seeing the wife, the girlfriend managed to escape leaving the husband naked, this is when the wife dealt with her husband without mercy.

The husband was dragged all the way from Mkwepu to his house in area 10 with slaps and was crying like someone who has been bitten by a snake.

Death in hotel room

The family of 26-year-old Veronica Takor, whose body was found in a hotel room in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, are trying hard to unravel the cause of her death.

The remains of Veronica, a 200 level Microbiology student of Benue State University (BSU), was found in Room 406 of Madonna Guest House, located in Nyiman Layout, Makurdi, penultimate Sunday morning.
