FAMU International Prague Film and TV School (FAMU) is an integral part of The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. It is one of the oldest and the best film schools in Europe. Rolling.

We offer 10+ programs in English for you to understand filmmaking. Action. FAMU. Film and TV School (FAMU) is an integral part of The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, which has been found after the World War 2 in 1946. It is one of the oldest film schools in Europe, which kept its tradition even during the difficult time of communist regime. There are many influential filmmakers and scriptwri

ters among graduates from the school, many of them are known also within international context, e.g.: Stanislav Barabas, Oscar winner Milos Forman, Oscar winner Agnieszka Holland, Věra Chytilova, Juraj Jakubisko, Vojtech Jasny, Woody Vasulka, Lordan Zafranovic, Jan Sverak, Ivan Passer, Goran Paskaljevic, Magnum member Josef Koudelka, Jan Nemec, present Prague and National Rabbi Karol Sidon, Stefan Uher and many others. Also, most of people working in the local film and TV industry either in artistic or production positions, as well as still-photographers in various media are graduates from our school. The faculty is a founding member of CILECT, of the European League of Institutes of Arts (ELIA) , and of the European Association of Cinema and Television Schools GEECT (Groupement Européen des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Television). Works of its graduates have reaped many awards at international festival and have often been coproduced with and breadcast over domestic television networks.

After a sleepless New Year’s Eve, Jindra and his daughter Bára search for her missing dog. The frustrating situation reignites unresolved conflicts. Bára blames Jindra not only for the loss of the dog but also for his recent divorce from her mother. Cluelessly wandering through deserted fields, Jindra struggles to prove he is not useless.

Piotr Jasiński

Piotr Jasiński is a Warsaw-based Polish film director currently finishing his MA degree in directing at FAMU in Prague. His works focus on communication, family relationships, and overlooked taboo topics. Jasiński’s short films have been featured and won awards at major film festivals. His works have also been shortlisted for the Czech Film and Television Academy’s Magnesia Award for Best Student Film. He was a member of the jury at the 2023 Warsaw Film Festival.

Sundance Film Festival’s Short Film Program alum Georgi M. Unkovski (Sticker, 2020) makes his delightful feature film debut with this inspiring tribute to the unifying power of music at any age, as well as the unexpected freedoms it can provide. Undeterred by his shepherding responsibilities, Ahmet enlists the help of his brother Naim to channel his musical ambitions and dazzle Aya, whose dance troupe is preparing to take the village festival by storm.

Unkovski looks to a charming young cast and sumptuous, dreamlike cinematography to capture the clash of modernity and tradition with fresh eyes, revealing a rural landscape transformed by the beat and bursting with color and movement.

Uplifted by warm humor, lovable characters, and an unsurprisingly catchy soundtrack, DJ Ahmet casts a welcome spell that reverberates long after the last joyous note —Ana Souza

Saying 'Action!' is a very important task.
To be honest, studying directing is a full time job 🎬

Established in 2008, Directing Cinema and Digital Media is a three-year follow-up Master's program for graduate students who already received a BA degree in Cinema or another field. The students are selected for the program based on the evaluation of their talents and necessary skills level. The intentionally low number of students guarantees a personalized approach to every single student.

Tuition includes at least one short film production in every semester (year one and two) and final film (year three), using both digital (HDV, HDSLR and other) and analog (16 and 35 mm) technology, on location and in the school‘s own studio.

Alongside that, students receive a number of compulsory and elective courses providing them with the necessary theoretical and practical tools associated with the work of the professional filmmaker.

The program is complemented with additional elective courses, workshops and modules – short intensive courses taught by professional guest artists, theorists, and visiting professors.

Nestihli jste se přihlásit do našeho produkčního programu? Otevíráme druhé kolo přihlášek do Production Team Studies 🚀 Deadline je do 15.07.2024 📍 O programu: Studijní plán je navržen tak, že se během přednášek dozvíš vše o produkci a natáčení. Získáš ale hlavně spoustu praktických dovedností, protože se během roku budeš podílet na realizaci minimálně 3 krátkých filmů. Studium je zdarma, kromě několika akcí během roku, jako je seznamovací týden se zahraničními studenty v Poněšicích, MFDF Jihlava, FAMUFest, mimopražských workshopů a další... Nicméně tvá účast na těchto akcích je dobrovolná a na festivaly navíc můžeš dostat slevu. Production Team Studies je certifkovaný kurz, který je zakončen certifikátem FAMU s výpisem absolvovaných předmětů a získanými ECTS kredity. Je také dobré zmínit, že nebudeš mít status studenta. Po získání certifikátu můžeš směle naskočit do profesionální produkce, a nebo se přihlásit na Katedru produkce, kde se ti bude dost hodit, že máš tento roční intenzivní kurz za sebou.
