👨‍🏫 The original idea came from the The Spanish Academy of Radio Arts and Sciences. UNESCO eventually established the holiday on 13 February, the day United Nations Radio was founded in 1946.

🍻 A recent article in The New York Times sparked a debate about “mlíko” (milk), a traditional Czech way of serving beer, which is almost entirely made of foam.

🎤 So, the Radio Prague team made the "effort" to head to a nearby pub to speak with a Czech bartender, who explained what this style is all about and if he recommends it.

Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has requested the extradition of former Russian state television anchor Farida Kurbangaleeva from the Czech Republic.

🕵️The journalist has been in exile since 2014, when she left Russia and her job at the state-controlled Rossiya 1 TV channel in protest of the annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine.

🐦 The Czech Society for Ornithology has named the grey wagtail as the Bird of the Year for 2025. This decision aims to highlight the crucial role that natural waterways play in supporting this striking, long-tailed bird, as well as a variety of other wildlife, communities, and landscapes.

📉 Czechia has dropped five places in the latest Corruption Perceptions Index, ranking 46th worldwide.

👨‍🏫 According to Ondřej Kopečný, program director of Transparency International Czechia, the main reason is the government's failure to prioritize anti-corruption reforms. "The political will to genuinely fight corruption is very low," he says.

Blažena Strachotová, the oldest living citizen of the Czech Republic, is 108 years old. Born on February 9, 1917, in Slavičín in the Zlín region, she now resides in České Budějovice.

✍ Throughout her long life, she has witnessed a number of significant events, including the presidencies of Masaryk and Beneš, as well as an aerial battle near her hometown.
