One of the important subjects of our living, is ecology.
Today we're going to take a look at southern part of Europe,
to be more precise, specific, Cyprus.
Here, at this particular direction, progress successfully being made.
Six clean-up campaigns on various beaches in Cyprus were
held on the occasion of World Oceans Day and World
Environment Day on June 5.
In less than an hour of cleaning on each beach,
more than 150 kilograms of garbage was collected by activists.
The campaigns were organized by the Cyprus Sustainable
Tourism Association (CSTI) in collaboration with Cyprus hotels,
within the framework of the project "Save our Sand and Sea
without Plastic" in order to raise environmental awareness and
protect Cyprus' natural resources.
According to the Association, each event brought together
a number of volunteers, students and hotel employees, as well as
hotel guests, while the participants showed great enthusiasm and
dedication to the common goal of environmental protection.
In his statements, President of the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism
Association, expressed satisfaction with the success of the
campaigns, adding that cooperation with Cyprus hotels proves the
association's commitment to creating a cleaner and more
sustainable environment. He also thanked hotels, Leonardo Plaza
Cypria Maris and Leonardo Cypria Bay, Mediterranean Beach Hotel,
Nissi Beach Resort, Parklane Resort and Spa and Poseidonia Beach
Hotel for their cooperation.
Oceans and the environment are invaluable for human life and
the health of the planet, cover 71% of the Earth's surface and are
the main regulator of climate, while providing food and livelihood
for millions of people.
