𝐈𝐧 𝟏𝟗𝟒𝟗, history was made! 📜👩🏾✨ For the first time, women in Curaçao gained the right to vote, after a long fight for equality. But this victory didn’t come easy…

Thanks to the Damanan di Djarason, a group of determined women who collected signatures and fought tirelessly to make this a reality. 🙌🏽💪🏽 They raised their voices and sent a petition to the Colonial Council in the Netherlands, demanding equal voting rights for all. 🗳️

A huge step forward, but the fight for equality is far from over! 💡✨ That’s why on March 21, it’s YOUR turn to make a difference! Use your voice, honor the legacy of the women who fought for this right, and make sure you GO VOTE! ✅

On the final day of 2025, we pay tribute to the one and only Mrs. Filomena ‘Elia’ Isenia, a true icon in Curaçao’s musical history. This year, the festival is dedicated to her legacy, celebrating her groundbreaking achievements and the vibrant spirit she brought to the stage.

Elia made history as the first-ever Tumba Queen of Curaçao, paving the way for future generations of female artists. Her impact on the festival remained strong, and in 2010, she returned with her unforgettable song “Mi Pueblo a Mandami,” reclaiming her crown for the third time—a triumphant moment that solidified her status as a true Tumba legend. 🎺🔥
