Meet the Lionfish:

Although this fish is incredibly beautiful with unique body patterns and large ostentatious fins, it is also invasive here in the Caribbean.

Luckily the dive professionals on Curaçao, such as , have worked super hard over the past years to try to control the invasion through creative outlets of selling jewelry and delicious bites.

If you ever get the chance, it’s always great to and by enjoying a delectable lionfish treat!

Did you know that every Manta Ray has it's own uniquely individual pattern, much like a human's thumbprint?

This pattern of dots on the underbelly of a manta ray is used to identify these gentle giants. For those who live in areas with manta cleaning stations, they will often see the same exact mantas returning certain areas for decades!

These animals are so incredibly majestic, photos can simply not do them justice. But, at least I can try..

🦑 Cuttlefish 🦑

Check out those master buoyancy skills!

These cephalopods have a unique internal shell, called a cuttlebone, which they use to control their buoyancy. They are so good at it, along with camouflage, that you might even miss seeing them float just inches in front of your face (which is almost what happened to me!).

Unfortunately we don’t get to see these in Curaçao, but if you ever run into one during a dive, you should absolutely stop and appreciate their amazing presence.

Never forget to stop and take a closer look at the small things in life.

These Blennies hide inside hard corals, just barely poking their little heads out, so they’re quite easy to to miss. But if you’re really calm and patient, you might be lucky enough to see them swim out of their holes and check you out in return!
