STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Every Saturday it is STEM Saturday with a different experiment or activity.
A STEM coordinator will guide the children during the experiments or educational activities.

You don't have to pay anything extra for these activities and experiments (apart from the entrance fee).

This week’s experiment: Skittles Experiment

Skittles are made of ingredients that can dissolve in water. They also do it quickly, so you have neat science right away.

Aqualectra Utility's new Smart Meters can be the stepping stones to an actual Smart Grid and they open up all kinds of opportunities.

Last week local media reported that Aqualectra, Curaçao's power- and water provider, had started the roll out of their smart meters project. Over the course of the coming 3 years they intend to replace the old power- (~85,000) and water (~80,000) meters with these new smart meters.

Yesterday the first Smart Bus Stop was launched by ITS Caribbean & Latin America, Autobusbedrijf Curaçao N.V. - ABC Busbedrijf, and our Prime Minister as well as the ministers of traffic and urban development, economic development, and government and public services.
The Smart Bus Stop comes with multiple screens with information and apps that people can use to plan their trip. It also has all kinds of sensors and cameras that will provide data about the stop's surroundings and it gets most of its electricity from solar panels on the roof. It's amazing to hear how much a small team like this can do during a year!

Every year in September the Curaçao Clean Up Foundation organizes the World Cleanup Day in Curaçao. During this event thousands of volunteers take to the streets and bays to clean up the mess people have made during the rest of the year.
