My TV Abroad was formed in 2006 by a small group of entrepreneurs from across Europe who shared a common vision for opening up the Free-to-air TV market for the millions of expatriates living around the globe. Our vision was, and still remains, to allow expatriates to view live TV without the need for a PC, without the need for a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and without the need to shield their I

P address and their whereabouts, and above all, to be able to watch it, LIVE, on a TELEVISION sat in the comfort of their armchairs. The first 5 years have been spent on Research and Development of the set-top box and marketplace, bringing us to where we are today. For the last 12 months we have been offering this system for sale throughout the world to any expatriate wishing to take a little bit of home with them, and so far the feedback has been fantastic! This is why people can use their own current IP set top box. One of the features in our system includes a 2 week catch up service. My TV Abroad aims to provide a high quality service to residents, businesses and Government Departments worldwide. Our services go far beyond the standard IP service, we can even offer on the go connection for iPad, iPhone and PC. We have remained at the cutting edge of technology and ahead of competition, this is partially due to our bespoke system and total in house software and hardware engineers. In fact our entire system including middle ware and catch up is written in house. This and the fact that we have a team of select personnel who have vast experience and knowledge within this field of expertise and are always on hand to assist, delivering excellent customer support and a high quality of service. My TV Abroad is always striving to be as friendly to the environment as possible. With this in mind My TV Abroad has built in to the system a number of unique energy saving devices. To prevent our set-top boxes wasting energy we have built in a failsafe system. This means that if left idle for 4 hours, the My TV Abroad set-top box will go in to ‘Sleep mode’. This only occurs if no stations or any other features have been used. To re-instate your viewing simply press the OK button. This feature prevents the use of energy when the set-top box is not being used. A further energy saving feature we have incorporated is to switch receivers to ‘Sleep mode’ at 4am local-time if it is not being used. To reactivate simply again press the OK button on your My TV Abroad remote control. This feature helps cut down our carbon footprint in our data centres worldwide. My TV Abroad is always looking at new features to save energy and as we develop them we will introduce them.
