The Union of Textile Engineers and Technicians of Serbia, on the occasion of celebrating the Jubilee - 70 years of existence and successful work, as well as 70 years of continuous publication of the "Textile Industry" magazine, published the Monograph "Textile Industry of Serbia - History, Tradition, Development, and Training of Personnel".
The monograph is designed to contain a total of 12 works that deal in a professional and comprehensive manner with the history and development of the textile industry, cultural heritage and the development of personnel education in the textile industry, the role of the development of the textile industry in the education of textile engineers in Belgrade and Leskovac, the role of modern management in high vocational education of textile experts, through concrete examples of the development of the textile industry in the city of Leskovac, better known as "Serbian
Manchester", Vučje near Leskovac, Novi Pazar, Zrenjanin, Pirot and Prijepolje.
The authors, in addition to the inevitable analysis of the economic aspects of the development of the textile industry in Serbia and consideration of the conditions in the cities that are known as the centers of this economic branch, also direct their attention to topics of importance for our cultural heritage such as, for example, carpet making, embroidery or various products from wool. Consideration of these issues is very important because it can serve as a basis for branding Serbia. A country's identity is a reflection of its national, regional, and cultural attributes of symbolic importance.
We hope that in this way we will sn**ch some important data about the development of the textile industry in Serbia from oblivion, but also introduce the younger generation to a significant period of the Serbian economy, the so-called "Golden Age of the Serbian textile industry", as well as give options for the development of the textile industry and increasing her
competitive advantages.
The official promotion of the Monograph "Textile industry of Serbia - History, tradition, development, and training of personnel", which was published to mark the Jubilee of the 70th year of successful existence and work of the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Textiles of Serbia, will be held in February 2023 in Belgrade in the ceremonial hall of the House engineer "Nikola Tesla", Knez Milos 9/III.
