HTC WORLD MAP, BY CLARENCE RISE - #2 COLOMBIA 🇨🇴
Dear Hypnotic techno lovers,
It's time for us to continue our trip around the world, with our HTC WORLD MAP!
A quick reminder about this project: the goal is to draw a map of our favourite community, to inventory the labels, artists, clubs, collectives and all the initiatives that make this music live and progress, country after country. We do it first through Facebook posts, giving you a space to eventually add what we miss. Then, we will gather all the information together to publish a giant article in our blog; an ambitious "world map of hypnotic techno"!
I'm Clarence Rise, producer and moderator in our group, helped by its beloved members to achieve this cultural project for HTC. In each post, I will welcome you somewhere in the world, more or less randomly, hoping that you will enjoy the journey.
SECOND STOP: COLOMBIA 🌞🇨🇴
Over the years, Colombia has become a place of high importance for the Hypnotic Techno scene. One of its representatives, Hod, had this beautiful declaration in our group: "The scene here is inspired by the cultural richness that exists, we are surrounded by a lot of indigenous history in a personal way that brings us very close to the tribal spirituality and allows us to connect with mantras or ancestral sounds that enrich the musical content".
Here is the context, culturally very rich!
Among the great actors of the scene, we find undeniably Aleja Sanchez and her well-established label Northallsen Records, Zemög and his fresh new project Tepuy Records, !nertia, VCI or Dåggěr (formerly known as Szórëgg). Let's also mention Launaea and his brilliant label From A Lost Place, Darkduction, founder of Granular Spectrum, Traversable Message in management of the Colombian/Spanish imprint Virescence Records, the label Seis Records, Merino, Ancient Forest, Kofan, Lopar... The scene is full of talents to discover and follow.
There is obviously a place that cannot be ignored in the local hypnotic techno scene, the Tunnel Club based in Pereira. But in general, and despite a large number of clubs present in the different big cities of Colombia, not all of them are dedicated to our scene, or even only to techno. However, among the places to watch for the programming that can please us, we note the Garden Underground Club in Pereira, the Frequenz in Bogota, the Hangar Nuclear in Manizales or the Terraza Club in Medellin.
It is important to know that the different collectives present in Colombia will often take advantage of the magnificent natural spaces that this country can offer!
It is impossible to talk about collectives without mentioning Matteria, perhaps the most active one in Colombia. This project is very federative, proposing events featuring other imprints such as Kalchno, Umbra and Eon. If you want to have a more exhaustive list of Colombian artists representing our scene, let's be attentive to the Tunnel event on the 30th of April, which will gather 33 Colombian artists for 23 hours. Other recommended events are those of BlackDance in Bogota, or the Caotica Festival.
Finally, how can we not talk about the Freedom Medellin Electronic Festival (an initiative of the MedellinStyle.com organization), a real techno institution in Colombia with an international scope? It features various techno acts and shall not be missed!
