The 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases takes into consideration the diagnostic specificities of TM. However, media criticism on the ICD-11 codes can negatively influence the public opinion regarding the use of TCM in western countries. This article sheds light on discrepancies in the classification system with respect to TM, and measures that can improve the applications of TM in the countries of origin, as well as worldwide. Traditional Chinese Medicine was first introduced in Greece in the form of acupuncture and was limited to few medical professionals. Even as of today, the access to TCM practices remains limited to few institutions and is mainly restricted to pain management approaches including acupuncture, moxibustion, herbology, gua sha, and tui na (Chinese massage). A number of TCM herbs were found to be useful in the treatment of COVID-19 infections. The extent of their use in Greece has however, not been assessed.
