The first -style dumplings produced at the overseas "shared factory" of a ready-made food enterprise in south 's Province appeared on shelves at a chain store on Thursday, according to provincial agriculture authorities.

The shared factory is operated by a joint venture between Guangzhou WULIXING Food Technology Co., Ltd. and White Diamond Foods Limited in New Zealand. The joint venture selected dumplings as the first products that were likely to be accepted by New Zealand consumers.

Unlike the established export model of preparing ready-made food products in China and then packaging them for lengthy overseas shipment, this new approach sees Chinese companies provide production recipes and equipment, and New Zealand companies supply raw materials and technology, facilitating the local production and sale of fresher ready-made food products.

A representative of the Guangdong provincial department of agriculture and rural affairs noted that this cooperation model shrinks the production-to-consumption cycle and reduces costs, enabling overseas consumers to enjoy fresh Cantonese cuisine locally. The department hopes to promote the new model in more regions around the world.

on Saturday launched an astronomical satellite, the result of nearly 20 years of hard work between and scientists, to capture gamma-ray bursts which flicker like fireworks in the farthest reaches of the universe.

The satellite, the Space-based Multi-band Variable Object Monitor ( ), was launched by a Long March-2C rocket at 3:00 p.m. (Beijing Time) from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to the China National Space Administration ( ).

The satellite has been sent into an orbit over 600 kilometers above Earth and has a designed life of five years, though scientists expect it could be operational for as long as 20 years.

"We are looking forward to some important discoveries, such as the earliest gamma-ray bursts that occurred when the universe was still in its childhood, which will help us study cosmic evolution," said Wei Jianyan, who is SVOM's Chinese principal investigator and works at the Chinese Academy of Sciences' National Astronomical Observatories.

"We also hope to discover special and rare gamma-ray bursts, and perhaps even to see new types of bursts. For example, our satellite is suited to searching for so-called kilonovas, bright blasts of electromagnetic radiation that occur when two neutron stars collide and merge," Wei said.

Observers said on Friday that BRICS' continuous expansion demonstrates the Global South's joint call for cooperation and pursuit for a fairer global order, and Thailand's potential membership could be a prelude to more members joining BRICS.

Thailand is eyeing membership as early as October, when the group hosts leaders' summit in Russia. Joining BRICS would allow Thailand to gain further leverage in advancing South-South cooperation as well as play a more proactive role and contribute to crafting the global architecture, Nikorndej told a news conference, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Thailand attaches importance to prioritizing multilateralism and strengthening the role of developing countries in the international arena, which aligns with BRICS principles, and participating in the group would also enhance the kingdom's opportunities on the international stage, a government statement said.

has expressed firm opposition to erroneous remarks of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs about recent Filipino moves in the , said a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in Japan on Friday.

Japanese ministry's press release on June 18, claiming of "recent surge in tensions in the South China Sea," misrepresents the facts and unjustly accusing China, the spokesperson said, thus the Chinese side is voicing strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition and lodging a solemn protest.

The spokesperson emphasized that the rights and wrongs surrounding the recent developments at Ren'ai Jiao are clear.

Despite China's warnings, the Philippines has repeatedly attempted to illegally deliver supplies to its wrongly grounded warship, aiming to occupy Ren'ai Jiao in China's Nansha Islands for the long term.

The responsive actions of the China Coast Guard are reasonable, lawful, professional, and restrained. China will continue to respond legally to the Philippines' infringing and provocative actions, resolutely safeguarding China's sovereignty and rights, the spokesperson said.

"We firmly oppose Japan using the illegal and invalid award on the ‘South China Sea arbitration' to pressure China," he said.

The spokesperson further noted that it is widely known that the arbitral tribunal in the so-called South China Sea arbitration violated the principle of state consent, overstepped its authority, and made unjust rulings, which seriously contravened international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

China's Ministry of Commerce ( ) on Thursday slammed the European Commission ( )'s investigation into Chinese electric vehicle ( ) manufacturers, in which the EC demanded a huge amount of information related to the firms' commercial secrets. MOFCOM reiterated its vow to take all necessary measures to defend Chinese firms' rights and interests.

Chinese carmakers have called for strong countermeasures, including considering raising the temporary tariff rate on imported cars with large-displacement engines, while relevant domestic industries have requested or plan to request investigations into certain products, including pork and dairy. Chinese officials have vowed to take all necessary measures to defend the rights and interests of Chinese businesses.

Meanwhile, a recent survey showed that Chinese businesses' confidence in the EU market has plunged sharply following the EC's investigation into Chinese EVs and subsequent punitive tariffs. The EC's move has seriously undermined China-EU cooperation and will deal a serious blow to the EU's struggling economy, Chinese experts said.

Asked about a closed-door meeting between major Chinese and European carmakers, where the relevant firms said that the EC demanded trade secrets about the Chinese EV industry, He Yadong, a spokesperson for MOFCOM, said that the EC requested a large amount of information on the production and operation, development plans, technical processes, product formulas and other information from Chinese EV and battery companies.

"The type, scope and quantity of information collected by the EU side is unprecedented and far exceeds what is needed for countervailing investigations," He said at a press conference on Thursday, while also slamming the EC's punitive tariffs based on claims that Chinese firms did not cooperate. "Chinese companies were shocked and very disappointed."
