"Aux âmes bien nées, la valeur n'attend point le nombre des années."

In the world of sports and football presently, this famous French statement fits into the professional life of Lamine Yamal like a Christmas shoe. Honestly, to have a market value of 120 million Euros aged just 17, far more than some geniuses in their prime, you should have been born well as this statement insinuates.

Congratulations Lamine Yammal, it's your turn to shine, make the most of it, but don't break Ronaldo Nazário's records oh. That's my favourite soccer wizard, so if you go there, then we'll be parting ways, certainly!

CONCERN GONE WRONG!!!

Francis N'Gannou wins his fight in 3 minutes, dedicates it to his son, Kobe of blessed memory, and while people join him in celebration, Mr Pierre Blériot Nyemeck chooses to see a tired man suffering from old age.

My brother, someone uses all his might in a furious encounter with an international adversary and you think he should be smiling around? He mobilised all his muscles for his son's name, for Cameroon, for Africa and for his USD8 Million and instead of celebrating with him, you are there looking at his age and qualifying him as tired and ageing? You think it's easy to work 5 billion FCFA in 3 minutes? It takes more than 83 years to finish 1 billion if you are spending 1 million Frs monthly and you are there getting sorry for someone who is today worth more than 20 billion FCFA? Are you normal Oga?

Mr Ngannou, if you like, look for a Land Lord's Chair, sit on it and cross your legs and get very tired, bro you have done it! You have made it in life and it's time to celebrate, even if you don't win another fight again, we are so proud of you and we celebrate you.

As for you Mr Nyemeck, instead of getting concerned about Ngannou who is a multi-billionaire, begin to reflect on how you will manage the little you have and pray that GOD blesses you with a child like Ngannou who will make your entire family rich to the umpteenth generation!

Shalom!!!

GOD ONLY BLESSES YOU WITH WHAT YOU ARE WORTH!
Thank GOD it’s Friday. Hope all went well? If all went well, congratulations and thank GOD for His grace over your life. In case you had challenges attaining your objectives you may want to do an auto-evaluation to identify the pitfalls and work on it so as to make the following week, a week of bliss. At times while presenting our new week to GOD, we pray for HIM to bless us with countless goodies and some beyond measure. And yes of course, GOD is able to do extremely, abundantly and immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. But HE most of the times chooses to bless us just with what we have proven to be able to handle or deserve. Some of us can’t keep to our words and commitments with GOD and HIS faithful children, some of whom were supposed to be channels of our blessings. GOD can’t therefore allow HIS faithful children to fall victim to the whims and caprices of the dishonest. That is why some deals which we think we have masterminded and taken all the precautionary measures fail. At times it is because in the course of our plans, we have tampered with a true child of GOD or we have plans of victimizing a faithful child of GOD.
In the story of the talents, JESUS explains that the master gave each servant according to their capacity to handle, insinuating that their antecedent managerial capacities were taken into consideration before the respective talents were attributed to them. They each received according to their proven competences and in the final analysis, their results prove that their master wasn’t wrong after all. Same is the situation with opportunities. Often times we get into partnerships with people who are under divine grace with divided attention, expecting to have our way through. But it doesn’t happen that way. You can’t mess up with a Divine program established after months and years of hard work and prayers, fasting, Divine intervention and guidance and expect to have your way. Trust me, GOD won’t let you have your way. They are sponsored by grace and GOD got their back and since you don’t operate on the same wave length as them, GOD won’t allow you share of their blessings.
GOD won’t allow you benefit from what you either didn’t work for or didn’t pray for. At times you could have prayed for, just as most of us do, but GOD thinks you haven’t gone through enough physical discipline to earn it. And if you can’t earn it, trust me you can’t nurture and groom it right!
So as you pray and work hard, show yourself worthy of earning and managing successfully what you have been praying for. Also ensure that you are on the side of Grace. GOD’s grace is sufficient for all His children and those who find themselves as adversaries to those operating under the arms of grace are automatically adversaries to the provider of grace, GOD Himself. When you find yourself as an adversary to the grace of GOD, He becomes a consuming fire, eliminating those who place themselves as adversaries to the course of His Kingdom.
May you be found on the side of grace, and may you benefit all the goodies that come with His grace according to His riches in glory. May the good LORD bless us all with awesome things in righteousness this weekend and the following weeks and may you be found worthy of all you pray and wish for.

Happy Weekend, Shalom!

CELEBRITIES AND THEIR DRESS CODES AT OFFICIAL RECEPTIONS

I have come to notice that most sport celebrities don’t mind the way they dress when visiting state authorities in their offices. When they are informed that they will be visiting a state authority in their offices, that is when they choose to put on T-shirts and all sorts of assorted wears. The most recent in Cameroon is Olympic Gold medalist with the American Basketball team at the recent Paris 2024 Summer Olympics Joel Embid who was invited by the Cameroon government and decorated with the Commander of National Order of Valour. In as much as I don’t buy the fact that someone would grow in a field, attain his apex and during a prestigious world event such as the Olympics, he chooses to defend the colours of a different country and his country of birth which he abandoned, emerges with zero medal, yet decides to call and decorate him, I as well don’t condone his attire when he was called up to be honoured.

How can a minister and all his cabinet members put on suits and official wear in a ceremony to receive and honour you for your brilliant career and performance in an official event and you decide to turn out in an attire that even your underprivileged relatives can’t accept to put on when you would have returned to the US? Is Joel Embid sure that if he removes that his T-shirt and abandon on the bed, or somewhere in the house any relative of his would dare wear it even for once? In fact, I am convinced that the attire now serves as shoe rag in their family compound but that is what he choose to turn out with during an event in which his host and all his cabinet members where all in dark suits for men and corporate attire for the ladies.

This is the same thing Lionel Messi did when former Gabonese president Ali Bongo turned out at the Airport to welcome him. The guy descended from the plane in shorts as though he were strolling to his backyard to check on his flowerbeds. My goodness! A head of state cannot mobilize presidential guards, and all his Etat Major to the airport all dressed in official wear and their guest of honour emerges from the plane as though he was strolling from his bedroom to his bathroom to brush his teeth. This is an insult and an intentional lack of respect to state authorities, and these guys all know it. They have suits, dark ones for that matter, they know how to wear it, where and when to wear it, but they simply choose not to do it.

Look at the way they dress during Ballon d’Or events and when they are presented to the press in their new clubs when signing new contracts! The attire is dark ceremonial suits, white shirts and black ties and they all respect it. But when they visit our state officials, they behave as though stars have no idea about corporate attire or state protocol. My brother, if I am the one, you will return and we have that event cancelled and I get back to work. I cannot prepare to welcome you with my entourage in an event and you turn out in casual wear. Imagine you inviting someone as guest of honour and informing him that he will be the Chairman of your wedding ceremony and he strolls in with sandals and a polo as though he is moving around removing cobwebs in the house. How would you feel? I don’t know where these state officials muster the courage to receive these guys, but to me, they should be asked to return since they are not ready for the event. Worst still, most of these events are mediatized on National Radio and Television, yet both parties don’t seem to care but if it is a normal person, they will tell you, the Minister or President cannot receive you in such an attire, giving the impression that being a celebrity is a license to violate state protocol and impose your own decorum.

Our leaders should learn to respect themselves, get to work, get busy and insist to be respected by their guests or the latter return. To me such invitations should be accompanied by a dress code, and the guests told that without that dress code, the guards won’t let them in. It is possible to insist to be respected. For instance, any event taking place at the Burkingham Palace in England is accompanied by a dress code, be it a wedding and guests are told that it is a royal event and indecency won’t be tolerated. To prove that these celebrities all know what they are doing, they obey it to the letter. No blouses or tops that expose your shoulders and skirts all below knee level for the ladies, and all of this is respected to the letter even by Hollywood stars. But when these same celebrities visit our own state institutions, they behave as though stars don’t have any idea about protocol and funny enough our administration tolerates it.

I blame our state dignitaries for all of this disorder. If you are hardworking, hardly having anytime to waste, delivering the expected results, transforming lives and impacting society positively, no one will tamper with your principles. In fact they would abide by your rules and instead struggle to identify with you so as to be proud out there that they are connected to that hardworking and transformational leader. If your guests can’t respect simple protocol, let them stay, besides, they are the ones benefitting from the honours you are giving them and not the other way round. You have work to do and if they can’t adhere to the decorum of events organized by senior state officials, then let them stay until they are ready or never turn out at all, because they might never get such an opportunity again. This gives an impression of lack of work or mediocrity on the host who wants to use the success story of the celebrity to cover up his mediocrity. Else, if you are hardworking in your athletics and I am hardworking in my administration, then for courtesy sake, let’s observe mutual respect in our encounters or stay on our lanes till we are ready to do so.

Dressing properly in order to meet someone is a mark of respect towards that person. Even GOD instructed Moses to make BEAUTIFUL robes for Aaron so that he can serve before HIM as Priest, and the day GOD was about to descend on mount Sinai, HE instructed the Israelite people to take a bath, wash their dresses clean for HE will come to them on the third day.

No hard feelings… Just my opinion…
I come in peace!

Do You Often Use Penicillin?

Often times when either manipulating objects or mixtures, we are disturbed when they behave a type. We expect everything to behave or happen just as we expect and even when the contrary occurs, we easily discard without asking questions as to why that occurred. We apply more soap and scrub it off with the sponge and ignore the strange chemical reaction either by pouring more water or simply wipe it off. We do this because it has never occurred to us that we can become inventors and innovators, proposing solutions that could relieve humanity of certain ills or challenges. We are used to going to the shop and buying whatever we need.

We don't see ourselves as problem solvers and solution providers.

On September 16, 1928, Alexander Fleming a Scottish Physician and Microbiologist discovered the substance which was derived from the mould Penicillium rubens. For this he received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, shared with Horward Florey and Ernst Boris Chain, in 1945 "for the discovery of penicillin and its curative effect in various infectious diseases."

Of this discovery, Fleming later said: "One sometimes finds what one is not looking for. When I woke up just after dawn on September 28, 1928, I certainly didn't plan to revolutionize all medicine by discovering the world's first antibiotic, or bacteria killer. But I suppose that was exactly what I did."

Interesting how he was manipulating substances in the lab and ended with something that looked helpful to humanity and finally it did.

Have you ever used Penicillin? Did it help you? Probably you should thank Sir Alex Fleming for his discovery, while wearing your thinking cap and asking yourself what you will be remembered for when you're no longer here!

Shalom and happy new week!

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR SOUTH-SOUTH COOPERATION!

In as much as it is good for us to honour invitations from developed countries such as China as was recently the case in Beijing with the just ended China – Africa summit wherein the Heads of States of 54 African countries converged around one president in Beijing and came out with an average of 1 billion dollar aid plus Chinese investments, there is much Africa can do in order to prosper.
First things first, China invited African heads of states to come and fulfill her development agenda which of course should benefit her more. China won’t cough out 54 billion USD from her state coffers to African countries because she loves them so much. This is a hard earned colossal sum which must plough back far more benefits. This entails, annulling whatever 54 African heads of states and their strategic Etat Majors had as plan of action for over a week to come around one head of state in order to brainstorm on China’s development. Can the reverse be possible? I doubt. Of what use it is going to get a billion USD from china when we have not closed all if not most of our corruption loopholes? Won’t it still be stolen as that which is being syphoned with impunity on a daily basis? Don’t we see that we have more assignments at home for our own good and sustainability than going to these summits? Can’t the South not cooperate with the South and meet these needs?

What if African countries could instead of going after these developed nations cap in hand with a list of their mineral resources on documents as though a precious jewel were put on the nose of a pig, rather intensively fight corruption? I am sure they would all recover far more than this amount from the corrupt loopholes. So now I ask myself! Why should you suspend activities for a week to go scouting for financial aid and investments putting your natural resources at the disposal of a foreign country when you can decide to curb corruption and recover more than that amount and still have all your resources intact? Won’t it be better if we could increase our scientific research budget, scout startups in strategic aspects of our economy, create structures to accompany these startups into maturity and send our smartest brains on scholarships into the leading economic giants of the globe to go and steal technology, then come back and create more startups in those domains? Can these great industrial powers really ever show us their hard earned technological innovations and inventions free of charge? If ever they do, what do they retain as bargaining power in exchange for our natural resources? So these countries will never really share their technological skills with us, because the day they do it, they cease being relevant to us and hence, loose cheap access to our natural resources. So promising us that they would share with us the fruits of their hard earned scientific research, some which were stolen from the West under very risky circumstances is simply using bait to catch more fish. It shall never happen. And if ever it does happen, then certainly the domains are not relevant to them and can’t really take us far, but in exchange they will tap the very essence of our subsoil.

Why can’t developing countries in the Southern hemisphere cooperate, improve on their good governance and research, identify the problems they can solve on their own while preserving their GOD given scarce natural resources, and one day invite China, Russia or Europe to come to Africa only when they need them to solve problems they couldn’t solve on their own? Don’t we stand to benefit more when we invite them on our own agenda, rather than carry all our immense natural resources cap in hand to go cry to them to help us find solutions because we don’t know what to do with them? South Africa is a developed country which has harnessed its natural resources and developed with it. Why not cooperate with other African countries and explore avenues on how to develop these resources and get immense wealth from it? I can assure you, so long as African countries with all their corruption and bad governance don’t keep their houses in order and keep attending these summits blindly, one day we shall have no more resources left and that is when these countries will cease inviting us and we shall learn a bitter lesson. At that moment we shall invite them to come invest in Africa and they will either ask us for what purpose or they impose on us conditions that will put our sovereignty on the line.

China has grabbed and even illegally taken away quite much from Africa beginning from immense arable land to scarce mineral resources, hard currencies and is not ready to put an end to it any time soon. Wake up Africa, cooperate amongst yourselves, there is a reason for that. If at all we intend to leave anything for posterity, then we need a paradigm shift and this can’t go without a price. These imperialist regimes won’t let us have our way out of their exploitative grip, but the pain is worth it if we must strive meaningfully and competitively in this fast moving world full of multivariate dynamics.

LET’S THINK SOUTH – SOUTH COOPERATION, PAY THE PRICE AND WORK FOR IT!

IT WAS GOOD LISTENING TO THEM, BUT WHAT ABOUT AFRICA?

I was one of those who sat up at that odd hour, admiring how these two American presidential hopefuls exchanged words striving to promise better leadership to their fellow citizens in case of election. Besides the fact that I admired VP Kamala Harris' brilliance as opposed to Trump who was true to himself, I kept asking myself, "What about Africa, especially Cameroon?". American presidential campaigns and debates are detailed and cover a range of domestic and foreign policies, ranging from business and consequently taxation and jobs, healthcare, gender, racism, immigration, EU policies, Israel, China and especially Russia.

This is unlike in Africa where candidates who have swindled state funds, promoted mediocrity, tribalism, nepotism, corruption, embezzlement of state funds give out gifts to desperate youths and are given standing ovation in public appearances. We in Africa are unable to handle outright incompetence and daylight corruption and such candidates still succeed to find themselves occupying elective positions and I begin to ask myself, are we talking about the same political game practiced in the West?

Probably Africa's got to look for another name for what we are practicing on this continent which prides itself as the cradle of humanity. How do we get out of this political and leadership imbroglio?

GOD, help us!!!

Best wishes to Kamala Harris who according to popular opinion triumphed over Trump! However, the choice is America's to make!
So let the best win!!!

SMART MINDS AT WORK, AT THE SERVICE OF HUMANITY!
While other certified minds are in Cameroon branding their inability to put their knowledge acquired in school at the service of the immediate environment and humanity at large, it is important to note that other smart minds more than a century ago in 1880 were brainstorming on how to preserve life each time a child was brought to the world either prematurely before the biologically indicated period or under conditions that don’t favour its healthy growth and evolution. That is how the French obstetrician Dr. Étienne Stéphane Tarnier, who, having observed the benefits of warming chambers for poultry at the Paris Zoo, had similar chambers constructed for premature infants under his care. These warm air incubators, introduced at L'Hôpital Paris Maternité in 1880, were the first of their kind. The result of this committed quest for the preservation of life, the source of joy to many families was concretized in the year 1880 and it was not until September 7, 1888 that Edith Eleanor McLean became the first American baby to be placed in an incubator immediately after delivery, at State Emigrant Hospital on Ward's Island, New York.
The brains behind this work align neatly with what Prof Bernard Nsokika Fonlon of blessed memory identifies as Genuine intellectuals. In Cameroon nowadays, we are witnessing a situation wherein eminent professors of law are embarrassing themselves before their erstwhile law students with actions in blatant disregard of the law in a country where the inscription “Dura Lex Sed Lex” is clearly written on the main door of the country’s highest judicial instance, the Supreme Court. Since some of these eminent professors behave as though they don’t understand the meaning of this Latin Inscription, suffices therefore to remind them that it means “The Law is hard, but that is the law”, and it applies for everyone be you a member of government or a man on the street and none is expected to ignore the law and the consequences of its violation. I therefore use this opportunity not given everyday to call on these eminent professors to put their knowledge at the service of the society and for posterity, knowing that history shall judge them tomorrow on the basis of their actions and they shall not be there to use their current positions of influence to either thwart its veracity or apply repressive methods on those insisting on the unveiling of such ugly past. Can someone observing what is going on in Cameroon be inspired to study law? This to me is the million dollar question these certified scholars whom according to me have fallen short of being called intellectuals are supposed to answer with sincerity for their legacies are at stake, if at all that matters to them.
Today we celebrate this genuine intellectual, Dr. Étienne Stéphane Tarnier (1828 to 1897), whom 144 years ago was concerned about the loss of life, especially babies who never asked to be born. Just as this learned French gentleman was concerned about the welfare of innocent souls who never asked to be conceived and brought to this life, I urge our certified scholars to act in manners that would merit them being called intellectuals by using their acquired judicial knowledge to better the living conditions of humans probably by protecting vulnerable groups in society such as minors, the financially underprivileged, pregnant women, orphans, street children, the aged and those who by nature or unfortunate circumstances find themselves in unfavourable conditions that doesn’t permit them to live in dignity and take informed decisions.
Conclusively, there is a reason why GOD in His infinite wisdom decided to adorn some of us with competences and aptitudes in certain domains which we might want to render them strategic and beneficiary for welfare of humanity. Which is your domain of expertize? How are you putting it at the service of humanity? When you shall no longer be here, how shall society judge you without fear or favour? If this question matters to you, you may want to sit up and make things right, if at all iota of dignity still survives in you.

A Contemporary School For Contemporary Society!

English Language offers the best of opportunities the world over but English Sub-System of Education in Cameroon seems to take that for granted and they seem to assume that having English Language as 1st Official language is already an acquisition.

Yesterday during church service I heard a newly recruited Principal present his institution and the ingredients he put in brought a lot of admiration and hope to listeners. He promised ensuring that his school will be more practical than theory, teaching life skills to students besides the usual subjects (History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry etc) that we all know and I want to believe many parents would like their children to be beneficiaries of such an education where life skills that would help them solve problems and create wealth are taught.

This Principal who is from Nigeria indicated that his school would teach Chinese because China is a world super power in all senses of the word. Therefore, having English which is the most widely spoken language in the world as 1st official language, the language of science and technology, commerce and adding Chinese to it is having more than 70% of global opportunities on your side. With the recent China-Africa Summit and the plethora of opportunities that come with it given the numerous Chinese investors knocking on our doors, it will be necessary that the next generation of Cameroonian intellectuals understand their language and be able to do business with them in partnership even if the benefits may not be 50/50 or win-win as it is often said in Macro-economic parlance, we shouldn't be ignorant of what is going on in our environment. Our learners should be groomed to understand the languages of those calling the majority of shots in the business world globally, understand them, their mentality and why not emulate best cultural and scientific practices and implement them in our own context.

Other languages he talked about learning are Igbo and Haussa and we could ignore them but if you were to consider the huge impact Nigerians are having on the Cameroonian economy in Douala and their investments, you won't ignore such a mindset. It's high time Africans learn not only these languages but get to understand the languages of the most dynamic peoples in Africa and the world at large. Knowing somebody's language permits one to understand the person's culture and why not emulate those best practices that make them thrive in society.

In Cameroon, Francophones seem to have understood the logic of learning the language of opportunities but Anglophones are still lagging behind. They learn English get bilingual and add German and Spanish to it so as to grab more opportunities but Anglophones are just confined to their English Language.

I think it is high time the Ministry transforms Career and Orientation into a full subject so that students before reaching High School already understand the dynamics of the world, the trend of events and the opportunities available both in existing and upcoming fields of study and even languages and geographic regions of the world. Until you have certain linguistic competences
you may never know the opportunities that go with them!

You loose nothing learning a new language

MOTHER TERESA, A LIFE WORTH CELEBRATING AND EMULATING!

Today, we celebrate the life of a one in a lifetime woman, a woman with a heart of gold, a GOD sent to her generation, with a legacy that will last several generations as long as CHRIST tarries.
Born on August 26, 1910 and died September 5, 1997, Mother Teresa was a Catholic missionary who gained international recognition for her humanitarian work in the slums of Calcutta. Albanian by birth she went to India as a nun and missionary, where she received "the call within the call" an "order" to help the poor, sick and dying.

In Calcutta she established orphanages, hospices, hospitals and schools, projects that spread worldwide with her fame and reputation. By the time of her death, she was operating 517 missions in more than 100 countries.

Despite some criticism concerning the quality of care in her hospices and the spending of donated money, she was widely loved and in 1979 awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
A miraculous healing of a tumor was attributed to her, allowing Pope John Paul II to beatify her in 2003 - bestowing the title 'blessed'.

Pope Francis recognized the healing of a Brazilian man with multiple brain tumors as a second miracle attributed to Mother Teresa and canonized her in 2016. She was declared co-patron saint of the Archdiocese of Calcutta at a Mass in the city in 2017.
There are beautiful souls in the world, but amongst them memories of Mother Teresa makes her stand out as her kindness has spurred many to be involved into acts of random kindness in emulation of her, even if it wasn’t second nature to them.

As you peruse this brief memorial, my desire is that her life style challenges you to be involved in acts of random kindness, not because you want to be celebrated like her someday, or for people to see, but simply because, no one has the right to be happy alone in such a world where many go to bed with hungry stomachs while many can’t afford medication and often lose their lives in the process.
So if you have never had a reason to give, then her story should let you know that many are in need and your act of random kindness could just be the stretched arm they needed to make that day worth living.

Hope is the pillar on which the world hinges and my encouragement is for you to be an instrument of hope to someone!
