Tselefack Nsungum Patrice Tselefack Introduction

The Mundum ethnic group is made up of the Mundum I and Mundum II clans which are generally referred to as Mundum.
(1)

The acronym MUCUDA therefore embraces both Mundums without differentiation. There is a Mundum-speaking enclave in Mankon, but they are not officially recognized as belonging to the Mundum tribe in Bafut Sub-Division. Nevertheless, this does not mean that they are excluded from MUCUDA membership. History

According to Brye et al (2005), the Mundum people originated in Widikum, later moving to Manko

n where today there remains a Mundum-speaking quarter called Ala-Mundum. Some left this location and eventually split into two groups; one group settled in Mundum I, and the other went to Mundum II. Mundum II ancestors are said to have passed through Oshie after the split and prior to settling at their present location. On the other hand, Mundum I people settled first in Beba near Bafut where they eventually had a land dispute with Beba settlers and were forced to move to Ntamanji from where they finally moved to their present site to cultivate its fertile soil.
