Fon Vugah I of Kedjom Kaku holds a remarkable place in history as the 16th fon of Babanki. Around 1890, he undertook a significant journey, guiding his people from their hillside homes to the fertile plains near Bingo Road, where the Babanki community now thrives. This important transition was influenced by the arrival of missionaries, who recognized his leadership and urged him to lead his people towards a brighter future.

Under his wise and visionary rule, the Kedjom people not only found a new homeland but also welcomed the teachings of the missionaries. Fon Vugah I played a crucial role in establishing the Catholic Church in Kedjom during that transformative period. His legacy as a great king and a unifying figure is still cherished today, marking a pivotal chapter in the history of the Kedjom people.
