Stephen Lipson (and Trevor Horn) have been huge inspirations to me for a very long time. That’s why I was especially excited to master and mix this track. 🇬🇧 🇩🇪
The song features a four-to-the-floor kick pattern made up of three to four layered kick tracks. Although I was able to correct the phase issues between these tracks and bring back the low end, I ultimately decided to replace the four-to-the-floor kick altogether. For that, I designed a new kick using the Kick2 plugin.
On the vocals, I used a filtered delay, which I recorded as audio and placed very intentionally in just a few spots. I then further processed it with techniques like reversing, time expansion, pitch bends, and more. One advantage of this method is that you can also position the delay before the original signal. I shaped the end of the song using fades, mutes, effects and a guitar edit. Awsome 📷 by Jimmy King 🙏
