The science of workplace meetings: The secrets behind successful meetings
Meetings are frequent in work organizations, whether we like it or not. However, not all of them are useful and valuable.
A group of scientists analyzed almost 200 studies about workplace meetings and came out with a set of guidelines for the perfect meeting. In short, there are several things that need to be taken care of before, during and after a meeting.
To see all the recommendations, watch this short video or read the article here: http://bit.ly/science-meetings.
Under ideal circumstances, meetings can provide a place for creative thinking, problem-solving, discussion, and idea generation. In reality, many employees are unhappy with them and the research showed that they spend up to 6 hours per week in meetings.
The 2018 Nobel Prize in Physics awarded for revolutionary ways of manipulating light
The 2018 #NobelPrize in Physics was shared by Arthur Ashkin of Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, N.J., Gérard Mourou of École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France, and Donna Strickland of the University of Waterloo in Canada.
They discovered groundbreaking methods to manipulate light. Ashkin invented the #opticaltweezers, a tool that uses beams of light to capture and move small particles, including viruses and living cells.
Mourou and Strickland invented a way to compress #laser light into extremely short and intense pulses (chirped pulse amplification).
