Peskesi is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in the city. It offers the most authentic and delightful dining experience.

The menu features unique Cretan flavors, prepared with traditional cooking methods and organic ingredients sourced directly from the island.

The ambience provides an immersive experience into Cretan culture, reflecting a deep respect for the traditions and the simple Cretan lifestyle.

This place truly captures the essence of Crete, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to experience genuine Cretan hospitality and cuisine.

THE MENU
After four years as a passionate patron, I have tried many exceptional flavours there, but here are some of my favourites:

• KREOKAKAVOS: Roasted with honey and thyme. It is a memorable flavour—I promise you will never forget it.
• LOCAL LAMB WITH TRADITIONAL YOGHURT: Lamb slow-cooked with yoghurt, topped with cheese, and nestled on a bed of “pilafi”.
• SYGLINO: It arrives wrapped in foil. When you open it, you’ll find the pork chops hanging inside, perfumed with herbs that are smoked at the moment.

DESSERT: There are à la carte options available, but I must confess that I have never tried any. I always opt for the complimentary dessert, which most often is semolina pudding (Halva).

RAKI: At the end of the meal, a glass of Raki is also typically offered as a courtesy.

HINTS:
Securing a table without a reservation is almost impossible, especially during the peak season. We once had to wait weeks for a table, so a bit of planning can ensure you don’t miss out on this experience.

Another golden tip is that if you still have trouble making a dinner reservation, try booking for lunch instead. It’s usually easier to find available tables at this time, and the menu is the same.
