Olá! My name is Joyce Bastos, I am 24 years old and I am a Brazilian singer. Almost two years ago I moved to Switzerland to study for a bachelor's degree in classical singing at the Musikakademie Basel.

My love affair with music began as a child. Music has always been the transmitter of my emotions and the conductor of my voice in many ways.
I started studying singing at the age of 9 and began singing in choirs at the same time. I can say that choral singing has changed my life in many ways. And what fascinates me most is the power of making music together with the most intimate and personal instrument - our voice.

Now a little about me: as well as being a lyrical singer, I also sing Brazilian music and jazz. I am a member of a samba group and two Brazilian/jazz duos.
As well as music, I enjoy cooking and doing my nails!

I am very excited to be part of this edition of the WYC. I feel very honored to have been selected to represent my beloved country this year!

There is a word in Portuguese called "Vesúvio". One of the meanings of this word is "explosion of passions". For me, taking part in the WYC and making music with other people means exactly that! I am really excited to feel this feeling coming from the passion of these singers who will be with me in this edition!
