Free Access: https://www.mdpi.com/books/reprint/10055-sensors-and-fault-diagnostics-in-power-system

The assessment of key apparatuses’ adequate technical conditions is crucial in the delivery of reliable and continuous electric power to customers. To meet this requirement, any fault in the power system must be detected and diagnosed as early as possible, with particular emphasis on the precision of the diagnostic process. Various online and offline diagnostic methods are widely applied for the early detection of system malfunctions, alongside a number of different sensors, which may be used to capture selected physical quantities indicating the type of potential faults. A specific fault diagnostic process is typically carried out by experts in the field; however, artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems are increasingly being proposed to support decision making related to this task. An essential step in fault diagnostic processes is signal analysis, and this is supported by features including (but not limited to) signal processing, feature extraction, modeling, and prediction methods. In this context, this Special Issue includes ten high-quality papers dealing with the main problems currently related to sensors and fault diagnostics in power system engineering.

Acoustic Sensing and Monitoring in Urban and Natural Environments

Editor: Hector Eduardo Roman from 🏫 Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca
Free Access: https://www.mdpi.com/books/reprint/10027-acoustic-sensing-and-monitoring-in-urban-and-natural-environments

Measurements of surrounding noise are essential to understand the harmful effects of anthropogenic origin in urban environments as the associated pollution may have deleterious consequences on human health. Moreover, monitoring the changes in soundscape in natural habitats due to human activity is of primary importance for the development of effective environmental policies aimed at restoring the natural equilibrium in affected areas. The main goal of this reprint is to present, in a compact fashion, recently developed advances in sensor technology and monitoring techniques devised by experts actively working in acoustic phenomena both in urban and natural environments. The contributions cover soundscape analysis, wildlife monitoring, the annoyance and perception of road traffic noise, vibrations and noise attenuation techniques, and the development of new and more specialized types of sound sensors for future applications.

Free Access: https://www.mdpi.com/books/reprint/10069-spectral-detection-technology-sensors-and-instruments

Spectral detection technology has always been a research hotspot in the field of precision measurement. It can not only obtain the spectral characteristics of the measured object, but also obtain the topography of samples through hyperspectral and multispectral. It is widely used in national defense, space remote sensing, biomedicine, disaster monitoring, and many engineering fields. In recent years, with the development of technology, intelligent manufacturing and environmental protection have attracted worldwide attention, which extends the application of spectral detection technology to new dimensions. The Special Issue of Sensors titled "Spectral Detection Technology, Sensors and Instruments" collected the latest progress of spectral technology. These studies collectively advance the field of spectral analysis and detection technology, offering valuable insights and methodologies poised to drive further research and innovation.
