A few weekends ago, the HAS Club in Hausen am Albis asked us if we could supply a light show for their Openair that was taking place on Saturday August 17th. Since my newest obsession is stage atmosphere and concert lighting, I was excited! Over the past years, we’ve built up a small DMX system of 28 spots, floods, and moving heads, and it was a joy to assemble and program sequences for the over ten hour concert with eight bands performing. Justin did an awesome job working the lights - cheers to him! While Justin was deep in concentration for creating a beautiful stage experience, I was doing the photography duties for the event. As the official photographer for HAS that weekend, I had a great time shooting both the crowd and bands… Thanks to the HAS Club feat. Woodstock Nation Hausen for their confidence in our work!

New Video for Nihilist Death Cult!
When I was in Toronto a few weeks ago, I spent some time with one of my longest friends, Nick Sagias - one of the most talented musicians I know - a veteran of the scene. I honestly think everything he works on is gold. We did a quick photo shoot, and then we decided to do an even quicker music video for a track off of his new album coming out in December, Nihilist Death Cult "Death To All Tyrants”. After two hours of swinging a camera about the rehearsal studio, and scrapping the bottom of an empty box of Timbits, we finished filming. It’s one minute and nine seconds of fury and rage - I love it! All bands should be like this. 🙂 Please go and check out Nihilist Death Cult and buy their stuff - my new favourite band!

Summer of Love…this was a great day back in July 2022. I spent part of the previous day setting up the lighting truss and positioning all the DMX lights on the stage - running all the cabling and praying that the DMX circuit wouldn’t go bad during any part of the show the next day. The following day I positioned four static cameras on tripods around the stage, hopefully out of range of dancing drunkards. I asked Tony if he could stay with one camera and make sure it kept filming for the first band, since it was a Canon 5D that likes to shut down after 15 minutes of recording. The bands took the stage one after the other from late in the afternoon until about one in the morning - it was about eight hours of camera work including a gimbal with super-wide lens. I’m very happy with the results of my first outdoor music festival video project. Thanks to Vito for the extra clips with his great camera work. Please go and have a look at all these great bands...

New video production with Caroline Breitler! I’ve worked with Caroline for years shooting and editing many of her videos - it’s always a comfortable time working with Caroline - the shoots are smooth and we always have a lot of fun. This video was shot at Actionworld in Obfelden, in one of their escape rooms - I love this place - the atmosphere is amazing, and all the rooms that we have shot in are so well decorated and beautiful. I could never take part in the actual escaping from one of these rooms - I’d be scared of never getting out and then being ridiculed for my low-activity brain functions. Anyway, we used three cameras; Blackmagic 4K, Canon XC10 and an old 5D with macro lens to shoot the scenes. I think we got some beautiful colour from the room and the existing light. We were careful to not knock over any candles and burn the place down. Go and have a look... :)

Back to shooting stock again. I love it and hate it. I love to shoot with models and be creative with lighting etc., but I hate how bad the stock photography industry has become over the 16 years I’ve been doing it. I love shooting food, music-related images, but I hate the time is takes to edit photos while I think whether it’s time well spent - or will the photos just sit in a stock agency amongst millions of others and never get seen. :P

Andreas Caplazi and I were asked to do the camera work for a music video for the band Felskinn. We were notified just a couple days before the shoot date, but we had a lot of fun and the band were great to work with. It was a frantic 6 hours of shooting in a cold garage warmed with a couple mini-block heaters and a large propane tank fitted to an old apparatus that belched out flames sporadically during the shooting. The clips were edited in Greece after the 11 hours of internet transfer of the 200gb files!). We are very happy with the final result...
