Centre for “Advanced Genomics and Precision Medicine” set for grand inauguration at AIIMS Jammu

In a landmark event for healthcare advancement in India, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Jammu is poised to inaugurate its state-of-the-art “Centre for Advanced Genomics & Precision Medicine” on 2nd February 2025. The Centre set up in the Department of Pathology, AIIMS Jammu is a groundbreaking facility, established in collaboration with 4baseCare and represents a significant leap forward in the field of personalized medicine and cancer treatment.

The collaboration aims to revolutionize cancer care by bringing advanced genomic testing capabilities to the region. The Centre will house state-of-the-art Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology, enabling comprehensive genomic profiling for cancer patients. This Centre will ensure timely and accurate cancer diagnosis through advanced Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology. As cancer care is a race against time, having both diagnosis and treatment housed within the same facility will significantly reduce delays, thus enhancing patient outcomes. Financially, the facility will provide substantial relief to the patients with the subsidised cost of the test as compared to other private labs. Precision diagnostics will ensure that treatment plans are tailored to individual genetic profiles, minimizing ineffective treatments and associated costs. The convenience of not having to travel long distances for diagnostic services further saves patients time and resources, making the facility a crucial addition to the regional healthcare landscape. There is at present no facility in J&K and the adjacent areas providing such services. Even in other parts of India, there are just a couple of centres providing facilities of similar nature, however with lesser spectrum of services.

AIIMS Jammu will also host a half-day Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on Precision Medicine on 3rd February 2025. The Meet will bring together leading experts in the field to discuss the latest advancements and applications of precision medicine in cancer care. Key highlights of the CME program include presentations on the role of precision medicine in multidisciplinary cancer care, case-based discussions on breast cancer and head and neck cancer, insights into breakthrough personalized treatments, exploration of CAR-T therapy as a new frontier in precision medicine and international perspectives on precision medicine from experts in the Philippines.

The CME program will feature renowned speakers from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, Fortis Hospital, Bangalore, Makati Medical Center, Philippines, Dr. Mandeep Singh and P.D Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai.

Prof (Dr) Shakti Kumar Gupta, ED & CEO, AIIMS Jammu stated “The proposed AIIMS Jammu-4baseCare Centre for Genomics and Precision Medicine seeks to integrate advanced genomic diagnostics with personalized care, revolutionizing cancer treatment and research. This facility will provide cutting-edge diagnostic capabilities, improve clinical outcomes, bolster research initiatives, and deliver accessible, affordable precision medicine to not only regional population but to the whole of India particularly, the northern region.”

AIIMS Jammu moves forward with its patient centric approach in synergy with its motto --- PATIENT FIRST.

Border Kissan Union Ramgarh- Samba.
Memorandum.

Today on dated 1st February 2025, the residentials/farmers of Ramgarh area gethered at Ramgarh and submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister of JK UT through district administration against their grievances for redressal.
1. The main issue was against uninterrupted false and fabricated high rate electricity billing on domestic and agriculture pump sets. Pertinently the pump sets which are seasonal and often remain closed more then eight months in a year.

2. The smart meters under installation in our area are defected perticularly on its speed matter. More over these meters require adequate voltage and due to same these are failed to show currect reading perticularly in our area where in all the time the voltage is very low due to long distance and over loaded grid and receiving stations. Accordingly, till the supply as said above is not improved, the government is imposing unauthenticated billing burden on consumers.

3. One side the govt was committed to provide twenty four hours electricity in the area where these meters installed BUT on the other hands the unscheduled cuts are prevailing without any control failing the policy and programme.
4. Out of two 50 MVA each transformers supplying power from Lalyana grid station to its receiving stations of about 196.3 MVA in our area, one 50 MVA transfer stands burn since more then two months resulting the accute problem to the consumers.
5. The power department assured in last season that a new 50 MVA transfer has been senctioned for Lalyana grid station and be installed upto ending 2024 to facilitate smooth supply. It is regretted that nothing is on ground till date. It is requested that till repairing of damaged transformer, the new senctioned transformer can be installed on old ones foundation.

6. The condition of canal's in the area is burst without proper desilting and mare source of income for certain selected peoples.
Till the mud is not desilted upto basic points considering the sub-distributeries, one can never expect supply to the tail enders.

7. Most of the Indo-Pak border area is occupied by the displaced persons of 1947, 1965 and 1971 with allotted avacuee land by the timely governments, who were uprooted from Pakistan occupied J&K (POJK). After coming into the operation of Agrarian Reforms Act 1976, the occupancy rights under its Section 3-A have not been extended to the allottees of 1965 & 1971, though these were conferred to DPs of 1947.
Now, in absence of above said rights, all most allottees who's land on border under mining, DCB, fancing or new defence scheme of 135 feet are not eligible to get claims and are deprived from their due rights, which is condemnable in all respects.

8. While declaring the reservation to border belt within six kilometres, few villages like Chak Slarian, Gudwal B and Chhajjwal Panchayats within area concerned were left out. Over time and again requests for needful are ever given deaf ears. As such the attention of authorities is again invited to consider at an earliest end.
The participants includes Mohan Singh Bhatti president Border Kissan Union, Ravinder Choudhary, Arjan Singh, Capt Jasbir Singh, Balbir Singh, Balwant Choudhary, Gurcharan Singh, Gharjeet, Rashpal Singh, Harbans Singh, Avtar Singh and others .
