In times of sorrow, the last anthology of and short stories from Tim Saunders Publications for 2023, has been published (the cover sums up how Tim Saunders feels about the world at the moment!):

Sorrow fills the airwaves. It is everywhere. We live in a world at war, the planet is overheating and we are killing ourselves through the over use of technology. Those of us who stick two fingers up to consumerism and stand out from that vast crowd should be applauded rather than frowned upon as...

Comforting thoughts, an of and short stories has been published

Comforting thoughts keep us going when times get tough. As Mary Cochrane writes in the opening poem, love is comforting - that virtue that makes us all feel worthwhile. Many other things give comfort too - memories of the past, the wonderful aroma of home cooking, confiding in someone who cares, ...

PRESS RELEASE

Tax needn’t be taxing. Well, it certainly isn’t for the team of accountants in The Office Diaries by Garry Davidson, who was inspired to write this work of fiction based on real events from his time in the office environment. Parties, travels abroad and plenty of banter gives another side of accountants who perhaps should not be considered so dull after all, well apart from team leader Sidney.
During thirty-five years Garry Davidson specialised in Value Added Tax (VAT) working for the UK Government, mainly as a VAT inspector, two top London accountancy firms as a client facing senior manager and then ended his career in the private sector.
“My last position was in-house VAT manager responsible for VAT compliance and planning for a multinational insurance company,” he says. “This story is based on real situations emanating from my seven-year stint at that company and it is those events that inspired me to write this.”

If you have ever worked in an office you will connect immediately with what you are about to read. If however you haven’t experienced the office environment you are likely to come to the conclusion that this is another planet inhabited by some very strange people. It’s real life in a corporate g...

PRESS RELEASE

A based on a by a writer has been published.
World War II story Stronghold of Happiness by Devina Symes from is about a fictional family and their struggles and successes during this period. It has already been made into a play, most recently performed at the Corn Exchange in September, but now the author wants to see it on the big screen.
“It’s a gripping story,” says publisher Tim Saunders, “and apart from the well researched history and a sprinkling of romance, there’s also a very strong message about how can overcome . Overall it’s a good news story and we need more of those. I shall be targeting selected and production companies.”

The African quote “When an old man dies a library burns down” spurred me on to write this screenplay, before it slips from living memory. Set mainly in southern England during WWII, the film includes the true story of the RAF’s secret mission to Russia in 1941, where they were a part of the fi...

We rely so heavily on transport of all kinds in our everyday lives. We certainly couldn’t go on holiday without taking it in some form or other. The New Hardy Players Present
Stronghold of Happiness
A dramatized reading of a Play within a Play
A NEW VERSION OF THE PLAY, TELLS THE STORY OF A WARTIME COUPLE AND A SECRET, DEVASTATING EXPERIENCE ON THE HOME FRONT IN DORSET DURING WWII.
A new adaptation of Devina Symes’ novel, which she has adapted into a play, is set in wartime Dorset, and is set to be staged at The Corn Exchange, Dorchester on September 30.
It tells the enduring love story of local couple, Peter and Ella Samways, who each experience life-changing conflict – Ella on the home front and Peter on the battlefront, as well as facing the consequences of Ella’s trauma. Reunited, their story deals with the aftermath of crisis as they make sense of their changed lives.
The play and the novel (published by Tim Saunders Publications) tackle strong themes of abuse that make them unsuitable for a younger audience. It begins in 2005 when the older Peter and Ella are invited to watch a rehearsal of their story, which the local drama group had chosen to perform.
“I wanted to tell a story that turned the tables on the usual narrative about war and look at the unspeakable traumas and conflicts sometimes experienced by vulnerable women left at home,” says Devina Symes.
Harry Cockerill and Tilda Sansom will play the young couple. Barry and Chrissie White will play the contemporary couple.
Devina's novel will be available on the night and is also available in bookshops and online.
The performance is being sponsored by Purple Business and Personal Accountants, Poundbury, Dorchester.
Performance at 7.30pm. on September 30th, at the Corn Exchange, High East Street, Dorchester DT1 1HF. Tickets £10 from WeGotTickets.com. Or on the door, subject to availability.
1940s dress optional!
All proceeds from the performance will go to West Dorset Women’s Refuge Welfare Committee.
