Hello!

Friendly reminder that MAVLI's Professional Development will host their next SHIFT session this coming Wednesday, February 21st from 7-9pm on Zoom!

The topic will be “What are you afraid of?” In our upcoming SHIFT session, we will discuss considerations for accepting assignments that scare us. What factors should we reflect on before taking these bookings, and how do we decide if our fears represent a challenge to be faced, or an indication that we need to decline?

Please see attachment for more information about our SHIFT session.

MAVLI's Professional Development will be hosting a Feedback Workshop!

Interpreters work in such a variety of environments and many of us have insufficient opportunities to sit with colleagues and get helpful individualized feedback on our work. Those of us with the benefit of a team to connect with regularly, might also benefit from the opportunity to look at our work with a fresh set of eyes. The MAVLI PD team is here to provide these opportunities.

Prior to the feedback session, you will record yourself interpreting. These recordings will be brought to your group to view and discuss.

There will be two dates for workshop sessions, February 15th, from 6pm-8pm, and February 18th, from 1pm-3pm. The deadline for registration is February 10th.

Interpreting students are allowed to register as observers; no recorded interpretation is required.
