🌅 MORNING LIGHT - DECEMBER 12, 2025 🌅

☀️ The invites audiences to celebrate “Beautiful December” with new arrangements of holiday favourites and an entirely new ensemble. The Winnipeg Nurses Chamber Choir and conductor Bill Quinn () (along with collaborative musicians and ) joined us in the studio to share some Christmas carols.

☀️ is putting their own twist onto two beloved fairytales for their holiday pantomime performances at next week. Performers Cyan Gargol, and joined us to tell us about how humour helps the performers face the difficult circumstances they face in their lives as people experiencing disabilities.

☀️ The is bringing the season in with a holiday sale and celebration! We caught up with gallery owner Julie Walsh to hear more about the events and how the gallery’s staff helps people find the perfect piece of art to give as a gift.

☀️ “The Performance of Being” at the is a multimedia examination of how we perform ourselves in society: our roles in life, our gender, our expression. The work uses over four decades of work from Winnipeg-born artist , who shares more about how assertiveness in her work has turned into compassion and intimacy.

☀️ The is hosting two exhibitions that alter their canvases to share works of religious import. Both ’s self-described “artography” in “Wood Heaven ‘n Nature Sing 2?” and Gen Tsuboi’s “Presents from God” are deeply influenced by the artist’s faiths, and we heard more about it when we journeyed to the gallery.

☀️ ’s “Holiday Musical Extravaganza” will see a different Hallmarkian musical take the stage every night for nearly two weeks. We joined the performers on that stage to talk about how seasonal prompts change their improv process, and get a sneak preview!

☀️ are bringing “A Celtic Christmas” to this Friday night, a tour that has charmed audiences all over the world for over two decades. Founding member told us more about what keeps the tour and the songs vital for the group, and what the members take away from it into their own holiday time.

☀️ The North End Jewish Folk Choir’s holiday wish is a simple one that they will share in their music. Conductor and guest composer and violinist Kaiti Rieder told us more about “Hope For Peace”.

☀️ The recently teamed up with kitchen staff at St. Boniface Hospital to create “Kitchen Dance”, a series of live performances that have now been turned into a video production that will play on television sets across the hospital. Gallery curator hannah_g (), filmmaker .jeanson, dancer Alex Elliott () and Carla Williams (), the hospital’s hesd of food services, told us more about the project and the magic of repetitive motion.

☀️ The is getting ready to share their “Fall Fantasia” concert, a showcase of the learning done in the last couple of months in one of Canada’s oldest orchestral training spaces. .spark.s and Chris Byman () told us more about the work they have been doing and about the impact it has on the next generation of musicians.
