This episode of the Ham Radio Workbench podcast is well worth a listen. Normally they go on and on about screwdrivers and soldering irons but one of the regular hosts lives in South Carolina and was in the path of Hurricane Helene and got walloped. (the power company doesn’t expect they will have power to him before Christmas! Luckily he had solar and batteries).

Find out what works and doesn’t work in a disaster and why you want to have a radio with dual receive (spend the extra $$).

You can listen to the local repeater (N2GE) at https://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/42258.

(I’m expecting to be deployed to his county next week to help with recovery. )
